User flows

User flow refers to all the flows or steps a user goes through to complete a task with your service. In other words, it’s about designing the path a user will take when using your service, the experience they will have. It’s a tool used to identify the best and most effective way to interact with your app based on the user’s needs, and at a glance, a user flow helps you understand the user experience.

Difference in User Journey and User flow User Journey

• A visual representation of the steps an individual takes to achieve a goal.
• Typically consists of a scenario of behaviors, thoughts, emotions, and journey expectations related to a user’s needs and goals
• Can be seen as the entirety of a customer’s relationship with a brand

Characteristics

• Problem discovery: Putting yourself in the customer’s shoes allows you to discover problems you might not have realized existed.
• Opportunity discovery: you can find ways to delight your customers
• User-centered mindset: Focuses on the emotions and motivations of users and builds customer-centric experiences accordingly
• Used to create a vision

User flow

• A sequence of interactions that shows the path a user travels through an app or website to achieve a specific goal.
• Divided into the steps a user takes from entry point to final action through the conversion funnel

In other words, while user flow refers to the steps a user takes to achieve a goal and the completion of a task, user journey doesn’t stop there, but extends to the usability and overall context of a scenario.

Interaction design It refers to how specific elements of a website, mobile app, etc. behave with the user’s engagement. In other words, interaction design focuses on the structure and behavior of interactive systems on digital platforms.
