The Padres Monday placed Mason Miller on the family leave list and recalled left-handed pitcher Kyle Hart from Triple-A El Paso.

Miller is expected to miss the Padres’ three games in St. Louis.

Miller stuck out three in a four-out save Sunday in Baltimore while lowering his earned run average to 0.90 and his WHIP to 0.800. It was his Major League-leading 19th save.

PAD BITS:

— C Rodolfo Durán had a double and his third home run Sunday in Baltimore for 3 RBIs, which doubled his career total. Duran is 4-for-9 in a 3-game hitting streak with 2 doubles, home runs in back-to-back games and 4 RBIs.

— DH Manny Machado got the Padres’ only hit Monday night. But Fernando Tatis Jr. drew a walk and has reached base in 10 straight games, going 14-for-43 (.326) with 4 walks for a .383 on-base percentage.

— LHP Wandy Peralta lowered his earned run average to 2.12 with a strikeout in a perfect first inning while working as the opener Monday night in St. Louis. Peralta has not allowed a run over 7 2/3 innings in his 6 appearances this month.

June 15, 2018 — Shortstop Freddy Galvis was 5-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBIs to lead the Padres to a 9–3 win in Atlanta.

PADRES ON DECK: MINOR LEAGUE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK:

Outfielder Carlos Rodriguez (Triple-A El Paso) — The 25-year-old Venezuelan finished last week riding a 20-game hitting streak, going 28-for-82 (.341). He was 10-for-26 last week with a double, 3 walks, 2 stolen bases, an RBI and 5 runs for a .385/.448/.423/.871 slash line. On the season, the 5-foot-9, 186-pound left-handed hitter has a .297/.363/.373/.736 slash line with 9 doubles, 2 triples, a home run, 34 RBIs, 6 stolen bases and 28 runs in 53 games.

Infielder Ryan Jackson (Double-A San Antonio) — The Padres’ 17th-round pick in the 2024 draft out of USC, the 5-foot-8, 24-year-old was 8-for-26 last week with a double, a triple, 3 RBIs, a walk, 2 stolen bases and 2 runs for a .308/.333/.423/.731 slash line. On the year, the second baseman, shortstop and third baseman has a .263/.353/.316/.669 slash line with 6 doubles, a triple, a home run, 18 RBIs, 7 stolen bases, 22 walks and 22 runs in 58 games.

Right Fielder Kavares Tears (High Single-A Fort Wayne) — The Padres’ fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft out of the University of Tennessee, the 5-foot-10, 200-pound left-handed hitter was 6-for-14 last week with 2 doubles, 2 home runs, 3 RBIs, 2 walks and 4 runs in 4 games for a .429/.500/1.000/1.500 slash line in one of his top professional weeks. The 23-year-old Tears is ranked the Padres’ №26 prospect. On the season, Tears has a .225/.343/.470/.813 slash line with 10 doubles, 3 triples, 7 home runs and 27 RBIs in 46 games.

First baseman Luke Cantwell (Single-A Lake Elsinore) — The 23-year-old left-handed hitter was the Padres’ 20th-round selection in the 2025 draft out of the University of Pittsburgh. The 6-foot, 200-pound Cantwell was 9-for-21 last week with 4 doubles, a triple, 7 RBIs, 8 walks, a stolen base and 8 runs for a .429/.586/.714/1.300 slash line. Cantwell’s slash line for the season for the division-leading Storm is .349/.504/.509/1.013 with 12 doubles, a triple, a home run, 27 RBIs, 6 stolen bases, 24 walks (against 24 strikeouts) and 25 runs in 35 games.

Second baseman Luis De Leon (Arizona Complex League) — The left-handed hitting, 20-year-old native of the Dominican Republic was 8-for-16 last week with a double, 2 RBIs, 2 walks, 2 stolen bases and 5 runs for a .500/.556/.563/1.118 slash line. On the season he has a .292/.393/.393/.786 slash line with 3 doubles, 3 triples, 10 stolen bases, 10 RBIs, 11 walks and 13 runs in 28 games.

Shortstop Joniel Hernandez (Dominican Summer League) — The 17-year-old was the top player acquired last January by the Padres during the international signing period. He is already their №15 prospect and went 9-for-21 last week with 3 doubles, 6 walks, 3 RBIs, a stolen base and 8 runs scored last week for a .429/.556/.517/1.072 slash line in the Dominican Summer League. In 11 games on the season, Hernandez has a .375/.509/.500/1.009 slash line with 5 doubles, 18 RBIs, 12 walks and 13 runs.

PADRES ON DECK:

Padres’ RHP Matt Waldron allowed a hit in 2 1/3 and no walks in 2 1/3 scoreless innings in his rehab debut with Triple-A El Paso Sunday and two Padres prospects hit walk-off home runs.

CF Ryan Wideman (.327), the Padres’ №7 prospect, capped a 4-for-5, 3-RBI, 2-run game with a solo, walk-off home run for Single-A Lake Elsinore. SS Jorge Quintana (.230), the №5 prospect, was 0-for-2 with an RBI, 2 hit-by-pitches, a stolen base and a run.

1B Romeo Sanabria (.227), the Padres’ №27 prospect, was 2-for-6 with a 2-run, walk-off home run for Double-A San Antonio in the 12th inning. C Ethan Salas (.282), the №1 prospect, was 1-for-5 with an RBI and a walk. CF-RF Braedon Karpathios (.245), the №10 prospect, had a double in 6 at-bats with a run.

Tears (.225), the Padres’ №26 prospect, hit a solo home run in two at-bats with a walk for High Single-A Fort Wayne. 1B Alex McCoy (.278), the №19 prospect, was 2-for-2 with a walk. DH Lamar King Jr. (.253), the №14 prospect, was 1-for-3.

Hernandez (.382) was 1-for-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs in the Dominican Summer League.

MINOR LEAGUES:

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (31–38) — ROUND ROCK 5, Chihuahuas 4: CF Rodriguez (.297) was 2-for-5 with a double and a run. SS Clay Dungan (.252) was 2-for-4 with a double, 2 RBIs and a walk.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (27–36) — MISSIONS 6, Frisco 5 (12 innings): SS Jackson (.263) was 2-for-6 with a triple, 2 RBIs and a run. 2B Francisco Acuna (.181) was 2-for-5 with a double. Starting RHP Victor Lizarraga (6.58) gave up 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks with 2 strikeouts in 5 innings. RHP Andrew Moore (1.99) issued 3 walks with 3 Ks in a hitless, scoreless IP.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (25–38) — DAYTON 17, TinCaps 1: Starting RHP Isaiah Lowe (1–5, 7.34) gave up 4 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and a hit batter with a strikeout in 2-plus innings to take the loss.

SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (36–27) — STORM 8, Ontario 7: C Yoiber Ocopio (.291) was 2-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and a run.

ARIZONA COMPLEX LEAGUE PADRES (17–15) — ROYALS 5, Padres 4: RF Jesmaylin Arias (.233) was 2-for-2 Monday with a home run, 2 RBIs, a walk and a stolen base. De Leon was 2-for-4.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE — PADRES GOLD (8–2) 10, Orioles 5: 3B Timothy Mogen (.257) had 2 doubles in 4 at-bats with 2 RBIs and a run. C Angel Mejia (.318) was 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs and a run. Padres Brown (4–7) 8, Rays 6: C Pedro Silva (.345) was 2-for-4 with a RBI, a walk, a stolen base and 2 runs. SS Dawry Guerrero (.333) was 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and 2 runs. 1B Sebastian Maldonado (.240) was 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs.
