Why So Many People Want to Teach for Money Now

Lately, whenever I scroll through X, I find myself thinking the same thing more and more often:

Aren’t there… a lot of people trying to make money by teaching?

Side hustles. Investing. “How to earn.”

If you spend enough time on the timeline, you start seeing endless variations of the same message:

“Name @ stay-at-home parent, making $500 a month.” “I’ll teach you this method.” “Beginner-friendly. Fully reproducible.”

Sometimes it even feels like there are more people trying to teach how to make money than people who are simply living their lives.

That imbalance feels like more than a coincidence. It feels structural.

To be clear, this isn’t about blaming people who teach. Teaching itself isn’t the problem.

The issue is what happens when too many people want to earn money by teaching.

When the number of teachers grows faster than the number of people who are genuinely stable, the audience becomes fairly predictable.

Not people who are already doing fine. Not people with financial breathing room.

But people who feel anxious. People who feel rushed. People who want their situation to change as soon as possible.

In other words, money starts circulating mainly among people who are under pressure.

That kind of market is fragile.

What makes it more complicated is that many of the people teaching aren’t particularly secure themselves.

You often see the same pattern: Someone consumes a course or some paid content, then gets told, “Next, you can be the one teaching this.”

Almost automatically, they’re pushed into a “teacher” position — sometimes before their own situation has really stabilized.

Seen from a distance, the side-hustle education market already looks crowded.

The word “side hustle” itself has become completely normal. By the time a concept turns into everyday language, it’s usually no longer early.

The most profitable timing tends to belong to those who were involved back when the idea was still dismissed or laughed at.

That’s not a moral judgment. It’s just how time works.

So designing a plan around “I’ll start teaching side hustles now and make money from it” doesn’t look especially rational anymore.

The space is crowded. Competition is intense. And it naturally pushes people toward stronger language:

Emphasizing how easy it is. Overselling reproducibility. Using urgency to stand out.

Over time, that pressure tends to wear down the people doing the teaching as well.

So what does hold value now?

Personally, I don’t think it’s the methods themselves.

I think it’s the underlying thinking.

Not: “This is how you make money.”

But: Why this option was chosen. What assumptions are being made. What was deliberately rejected, and what was kept.

Interestingly, people who remain stable over long periods tend to change their specific tactics often.

But their way of thinking — their priorities, their risk tolerance, their decision filters — stays relatively consistent.

That consistency seems to be where real value accumulates.

That said, this isn’t an argument for “selling your philosophy.” That’s not something I’m interested in recommending.

Even just recognizing the structure — and stepping back to think, “Oh, so this is what’s happening” — can make decisions feel noticeably lighter.

Once you see that the teaching market is saturated, you can more calmly decide where you want to stand in relation to it.

Whether you engage with it or not is entirely up to you.
