From Meerut to Building a Healthcare Media Company
A founder’s honest account of starting with a camera and ending up somewhere unexpected.
I grew up in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. It is not the kind of city people write startup origin stories about. There is no Silicon Valley equivalent. There was no media industry to apprentice into, no network of founders to learn from.
What there was: a curiosity about how stories were told. A fascination with cameras and film. And the particular stubbornness that comes from watching something not work and deciding to try again anyway.
In 2016, I saved enough money to buy my first camera. I had no plan beyond using it.
The First Years Were Not Glamorous
My first paid project was a regional Haryanvi music video. Modest work. But it was real, and it taught me something immediately practical: the fundamentals of visual storytelling hold up regardless of the budget or the scale.
After that came freelance work. Production assignments. Brand campaigns. I learned editing, client management, and — through a series of early YouTube experiments that moved very slowly — what it actually takes to build an audience over time.
Those early YouTube failures were expensive in time. They were also among the most useful things I experienced. Consistency, not quality alone, was what built anything durable. I learned that before I had anything to be consistent about.
The Moment Healthcare Changed Everything
In 2020, I started working with Dr. it was not a dramatic pivot. It was one client. But healthcare, I quickly noticed, had a communication problem that was genuinely different from anything else I had worked on.
Doctors were deeply expert. But their expertise lived primarily inside consultation rooms. Outside those rooms, patients were searching for information and finding a mixture of accurate, oversimplified, and occasionally dangerous content. The gap between what doctors knew and what patients could access was real, and nobody was solving it well.
Marketing agencies were helping clinics get followers. That was not the same as trust. And trust, I realized, was what patients actually needed before they made healthcare decisions.
That observation led to Dr. Graphical™.
What the Journey Actually Looked Like
Building a niche company in a crowded industry is not a straight line. There were years of inconsistent revenue. Clients who did not initially understand why communication was different from content. The quiet frustration of building authority more slowly than you are building a business.
What kept things moving was the same thing that made me buy that first camera. A genuine interest in the problem. And enough persistence to stay consistent through the periods when the results were not yet visible.
From Meerut to a team of 12, 50 doctors, and 12 countries. It did not happen quickly. It was not supposed to.
“Consistency wins. If you stop, you guarantee failure. If you continue, success remains possible.”
