What If Waiting Is Also Living?

We spend so much time waiting for life to begin that we forget it’s already happening.

There comes a time in everyone’s life when time itself seems to refuse to move. Happiness stands on the other side of a road that feels endless, waving at you from a distance, while every passing day turns waiting into a punishment.

You stand still — not with tears, not with anger, but with silence. And somewhere within that silence, a thought begins to echo:

“I’ll be happy after I cross this road.”

So, you postpone life. You postpone your laughter until that acceptance letter arrives. You postpone your inner peace until that exam is over. You postpone your dreams until the promotion, until the healing, until the answered prayers.

But it looks like you forgot that Life continued in the meantime.

The sun still rose. The rain still fell. The flowers still bloomed. The world never stopped turning. The people who loved you never stopped. Your siblings kept looking at your room, hoping that you’d ask about their day.

Your parents kept hoping that they would get to see your smile more often. Your friends slowly stopped asking because “maybe next time” became your favorite excuse. Birthdays were still celebrated. Laughter still echoed through the room you had already left.

And while you kept waiting for life to happen, it kept quietly knocking on your door every single day.

Maybe life was never waiting on the other side of the road. Maybe it had been standing beside you all along. Maybe it was when your sibling would excitedly go on telling you about their day. When your parents kept calling you to dinner. When your friends saved you a seat.

Or perhaps when the version of you that stood by the road kept whispering:

“Please don’t wait till tomorrow to meet me.”
