MIBR Academy win Liga GamersClub 2022 Serie A February

The academy team of the legendary Brazilian organization claimed their first title after a 2–0 win over Black Dragons.

After just making it out of the group stage, MIBR Academy managed to score a nearly perfect run through the playoffs in order to be crowned Serie A champions. In the opening round of playoffs the team led by Breno ‘brnz4n’ Poletto easily won 2–0 against Stone, an Argentinian roster, #218 in HLTV’s rankings. Waiting for them in the upper-bracket semifinals was FURIA Academy after placing 1st in the group stage and getting a first-round bye. MIBR Academy once again proved to be the better team after two convincing map wins where brnz4n and co. showed their magic. The only map dropped by the Made in Brazil youngsters came at the hand of Black Dragons in the upper-bracket finals in the always balanced Inferno, where BD won 16–14. Despite that loss, MIBR Academy, who had already won map one of the series, managed to win it with a 16–8 Overpass decider victory. Black Dragons wanted revenge and, after winning the consolidation finals against Meta Gaming Basil, had their chance. The Inferno scoreline from their previous encounter turned around and MIBR Academy won that map, picked by BD, 16–14, and only needed to win their Nuke pick to get their first big regional tournament win. After an intense match, the academy team was able to win it in overtime 19–17.

MIBR Academy is a recent project that was announced on July 11th, 2021. The legendary organization owned by Immortals Gaming Club held a selection process, called “Feitos no Brasil” (literal translation of Made in Brazil) in order to select players for the Academy line whilst opening the doors for many young Brazilian CS:GO fans who aim to be professional players someday. After the roster was finalized the team competed in lower-tier competitions in Brazil and the South-American region, and after five tries in Serie B the team was promoted to Serie A in January. On their first-ever appearance in Serie A, MIBR Academy managed to win the tournament, showing good signs of improvement.

The monthly competition hosted by GamersClub saw ten teams battling it out in the server for a prize pool of $1,640. Despite not being the region’s highest-rated tournament, Serie A is the top division of all the GamersClub leagues that work similarly to ESEA’s leagues with promotions and demotions. After this month’s edition, First Memory eSports and Stars Horizon got demoted to Serie B, while SWS Gaming and Arctic eSports will try to maintain their Serie A spot through the relegation tournament. Joining Serie A directly from the lower tier are The Union and Beneath Gaming, whilst Cruzeiro Esports and WAP Esports will be joining SWS and Arctic in relegation.
