What Work Is Truly Important

Today, hustle culture dominates among young people. Nietzsche once introduced the idea of the Übermensch, and that moral framework later influenced almost everything. Everyone is chasing money at any cost — shady schemes, gray businesses — and from one angle, it’s ugly.

I wouldn’t rush to condemn them. I’m no saint myself. Still, philosophers were right about one thing: everything has a price. And the price for unjust or shameful actions is usually paid by the soul — and it’s a high one.

So what kind of work is the right kind? Fighting for something at any cost doesn’t sit well. To me, the issue isn’t the specific job, but the approach — getting results despite resistance, regardless of ethics. The old philosophers were clear: the problem isn’t the work itself, but your attitude toward it. You are either a creator, a parasite, or just a consumer.

Even a poor janitor can do their job with dignity, care, quality, and creativity. At the same time, a very wealthy corrupt official may have status and money, but that work will never count as useful or right — because it lacks conscience and courage.
