BENEFITS OF READING BOOKS.
BENEFITS OF READING BOOKS.
Reading books has different meanings for different people. Some people read books for knowledge, while others read them for enjoyment, imagination, or relaxation. However, one important thing is that reading includes many types of books, such as storybooks, educational books, biographies, and many more. We can choose the type of book that matches our interests and preferences. When we find a book that we enjoy, reading becomes a pleasant habit that nobody can dislike or reject. A good book is like a good friend because it supports us, teaches us valuable lessons, and stays with us whenever we need it.
1)READING CHALLENGES YOUR POINT OF VIEW. Yes, I agree with this point from the video, and I believe reading helps us see life from different perspectives and understand people better. From my reading of To Kill a Mockingbird, I learned that people can judge others unfairly based on their beliefs or backgrounds. The story teaches us the importance of empathy, justice, and understanding different perspectives before making decisions. On a personal level, I also connected this point of view with my own reading experience of The Blue Umbrella, which was written by the famous Indian author Ruskin Bond and which I recently read for my English presentation. At the beginning of reading the story, I thought it was only about a beautiful blue umbrella. However, as I continued reading, I realized that the story had a deeper meaning. It taught me valuable lessons about kindness, forgiveness, and generosity. It changed my perspective by showing me that true happiness comes from caring for others rather than owning expensive things. 2)READING OPENS EYES TO DIFFERENT CULTURES. Yes, of course, I agree that reading opens our eyes to different cultures. The speaker in the video shared her experience of learning about cultures from different countries. In my case, I have mostly learned about the diverse cultures of India and partially about other countries through my Social Studies and History textbooks that I studied during my school years. These textbooks introduced me to the traditions, cultures, languages, festivals, foods, and costumes of different states. They helped me understand and appreciate the rich cultural diversity of India. For example, Punjab is famous for the Bhangra dance and Makki di Roti with Sarson da Saag. Kerala is known for Kathakali dance and Sadya. Rajasthan is famous for the Ghoomar dance and Dal Baati Churma. Learning about these different cultures through reading helped me realize that every state has its own unique traditions and values. It made me more respectful and curious to learn about the diversity of our country. 3)READING CREATES OPPORTUNITIES I agree with the point that reading creates opportunities because reading has helped me gain knowledge, improve my communication skills, and build confidence. One of the greatest people who inspired me is Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. He believed that books and continuous learning could change a person's life and help them achieve their dreams. His life is an example of how reading and lifelong learning can open the doors to success. Personally, I read newspapers, storybooks, moral stories, textbooks, and biographies. These have helped me to improve my vocabulary and understand new ideas. Every book I read gives me valuable knowledge and prepares me for future opportunities, not only in education and careers but also in life. 4)READING CREATES OPPORTUNITIES I agree with the point that reading creates opportunities because reading has helped me gain knowledge, improve my communication skills, and build confidence. Many people come together through reading, educational projects, worksheets, learning discussions, and group activities. These activities help build a strong sense of community by allowing people to share knowledge and learn from each other. In my experience, I usually read the same lessons and storybooks with my classmates. We discuss the characters, share our opinions, and help each other understand difficult topics. This makes learning more enjoyable and creates a better connection among students. I believe reading not only improves our knowledge but also brings people together through shared ideas and experiences. 6)READING IS ENTERTAINING The word "entertaining" includes enjoyment, fun, and interest, and all these qualities can be experienced through reading books. I support this point because reading is not only about learning but also about enjoyment. During my childhood and even now, I love reading comic books, fairy tales, and especially English newspapers, including the joke and humour sections. All these make reading more enjoyable and bring happiness to my life. While reading, I often imagine myself in the world of fictional characters. These feelings and experiences cannot always be expressed in words. Reading improves my imagination, creates positive thoughts, and sometimes changes sadness into happiness. The joy that comes from reading is something special that cannot be completely replaced by digital entertainment. 7)READING HELPS YOU LIVE A BETTER LIFE There is no doubt that reading helps you live a better life. Reading is a powerful habit that supports personal growth, creates opportunities, expands our thinking, and helps us become better individuals. Even in today's digital world, books cannot be completely replaced because they remain a valuable source of knowledge, imagination, and inspiration. Books guide us, teach us important lessons, and help us understand life in a better way. I also believe that religious books like the Bhagavad Gita and the Ramayanam provide valuable teachings about life, values, responsibilities, and the right way to face challenges. Personally, reading different types of books, including storybooks, textbooks, newspapers, biographies, and moral stories, has helped me gain knowledge and understand the importance of the points mentioned above. Overall, reading helps us grow intellectually, emotionally, and personally. It guides us throughout our lives and inspires us to become better versions of ourselves. THANK YOU Rupalisathish
