The Lemon Twigs are a duo consisting of brothers Brian and Michael D’Addario, who grew up in the suburbs of Long Island in New York. Both are songwriters, vocalists, and multi-instrumentalists.

I first became aware of them a few years ago when I saw them mentioned in an article about new music acts to keep an eye out for. They were described then as being a power pop act that was heavily influenced by legendary acts like The Beatles and The Beach Boys.

Since those are two of my favorite bands ever, I told myself to check out the music of The Lemon Twigs very soon. Unfortunately, since I’m a lifelong expert at procrastination, very soon” turned out to be a few years and I didn’t listen to them until the spring of this year, 2026.

The first song I heard by them was “I Just Can’t Get Over Losing You,” which was released as a single in March of this year.

I could immediately hear the influence of bands like The Beatles. It’s a very fun power pop song and I instantly loved it.

I learned that the song was going to be on their then-upcoming sixth studio album, Look for Your Mind!, and I was excited to hear the whole thing. Thankfully, I didn’t have to wait long because the album was released just a couple of months later on May 8, 2026.

In the few weeks since then, I’ve listened to Look For Your Mind! several times. Not only do I love most of the songs on it, but I’m happy to share that there are no songs on the album that I feel the need to skip over while listening to it.

It’s a very short album — just 41 minutes and 13 seconds long. However, there are 14 songs packed into that short time.

Below are four of my favorites from it, with my top favorite being the final one.

Gather Round

This is a very catchy-sounding song! It’s frequently stuck playing over and over again in my head and I’m completely okay with that.

Fire and Gold

Excellent harmonies and music here. I especially like the guitar playing in it.

Bring You Down

There are parts of this that remind me a lot of the early surfing and car songs of The Beach Boys. It also reminds me a little bit of the music of the fictional band The Wonders from the film That Thing You Do.

In other words, it’s got a fun 60s sound to it!

2 or 3

This was the second single from the album and it was released in April. At first, I wasn’t sure if I liked it as much as “I Just Can’t Get Over Losing You,” but that changed for me after just a few more listens of it.

Though these kinds of things are always subject to change, “2 or 3” is my current favorite song on the album — and probably my favorite song by anyone so far this year.

It tells the story of a man who feels he’s maybe not worthy of the woman he’s in love with. It’s not that he’s a bad guy or anything like that. He’s just concerned that he’s not as educated or as culturally refined as her and he wonders if she’d be better off with someone else. In those regards, he sort of reminds me of the main character of XTC’s classic song “The Mayor of Simpleton,” which is another power pop song I love.

Speaking of love, I’m crazy about the music video for “2 or 3” and how it shows the story of the couple that is being sung about.

The singer of this song is Brian D’Addario and the video features his real-life girlfriend Anastasia Sanchez (of the band Tchochke) playing, naturally, the part of his girlfriend.

It’s a well-made music video that is quite charming.

As I’m sure is quite evident by now, I highly recommend Look for Your Mind! by The Lemon Twigs to all of my fellow music lovers out there. If you listen to it, I hope you enjoy it even half as much as I have so far!

NOTE: That’s not me above, but it’s pretty much how I look when I’m listening to music I’m enjoying!
