The Ripple Effect Blog #30: Pause for Pride

As 2025 comes to a close, I’ve been thinking about something we don’t talk about enough. Pride. Not ego. Not comparison. Just honest pride.

We’re really good at naming the lessons. What we would do differently. Where we fell short. How we can be better next time.

And those reflections matter. Growth requires humility and awareness.

But so does pausing long enough to say, I did that.

This year, there were moments that stretched me. Moments that required patience I didn’t know I had. Conversations that were hard but handled with grace. Seasons that asked for endurance, resilience, and trust. Things that were overcome quietly, without applause, but not without cost.

And if I’m honest, it’s sometimes hard to let those moments stick.

We acknowledge them quickly and move on. We downplay them. We redirect to what’s next.

But pride, when it’s grounded, is not something to rush past. It’s something to absorb.

There is power in telling your family or a close friend, “I’m proud of how I handled that.” There is healing in saying it out loud. There is confidence built when you let yourself feel it instead of brushing it off.

And maybe most importantly, there is something deeply validating about telling yourself.

I showed up. I stayed. I grew. I overcame.

That feeling matters. It becomes fuel. It becomes proof. It becomes a reminder for the next hard season that you are capable, steady, and stronger than you think.

So as you reflect on 2025, don’t only ask, “What did I learn?” Also ask, “What am I proud of?”

Let that answer land. Let it stay. Let it ripple.

Because honoring what you’ve done well doesn’t stall your growth. It strengthens it.
