CISCO Networking Basics Journey

I just started cisco networking basics course to deepen my understanding of network. You will read what i learnt in this course and I hope it also help you if you also want to learn more about networking. So basically I will post daily about What I learned and my goal is to complete 1 module a day.

To be honest, my main purpose of documenting my journey is because by writting these blogs the concept really fits into my mind and I am also technically teaching others and writting in my own words about what I understood

So today is Day 1 and I have completed the course introduction and first module

Here’s what I learned:

Day 1 :

Module 1 (Communication in a Connected World)

Every digital device around us is connected to internet, but what is internet?

Internet is a network of networks. Every network together is called internet. Our devices like smartphones, tablets, home appliances, smartwatch, cars are all connected to internet comminicating with each other.

Data is stored in the form of binary digits (bits) 0’s and 1’s. data is any type of information that is uploaded or stored in the cloud or internet. there are 3 types of data volunteered data: data you voluntarily upload or store yourself, infered data: data which is stored without your information like when you vist a foreing country and access an atm machine and wihtdraw some money, your home country bank will store the data that you withdrew money in a foreign country at specific day, last one is observed data: it is usually the data like your location, how frequently you vist a place etc.

data is stored in bits form, then it must be converted into signals to transfer it thorugh network media. media is any physical medium which transfer the data from one connected device to another.

bandwidth is the no of bits sent or recieved over a netwrok per second. bandwidth is measured in mbps, kbps, gbps. (It is a theoretical amount).

thorughput is the amount of data sent( bits per second) , the delays that occur while transmission, and the latency btween reciver and sender. Throughput is affected by: the type of data being sent, latency, amount of data sent over the connection.( It is the actual amount)

I just completed module 1 and also passed the assesment with 100%

That is it for Day 1!!!!!!

See you tomorrow.
