Mayor & First Lady Host Mahmoud Khalil

Several days ago, NYC mayor Zohran Mamdani and first lady Rama Duwaji publicly and lavishly hosted prominent anti-American, Israel-annihilationist campus agitator Mahmoud Khalil.

On social media platform X, Mamdani shared a saccharine photo (above) of Duwaji’s fawning over Khalil — together with saccharine praise of their guest.¹

WHAT THE MAYOR SAID

A year ago, Mahmoud was walking home through our city after sharing an iftar [Ramadan break-fast] with his wife Noor when he was detained by federal agents, flown to Louisiana, and then held in an ICE facility for months. In that time, he was forced to miss the birth of his first child. All of this for exercising his First Amendment rights in protesting the ongoing genocide in Palestine . . . . Mahmoud is a New Yorker, and he belongs in New York City.

WHAT THE MAYOR FAILED TO SAY

1. Mahmoud Khalil is not a New Yorker; he is a Syrian-born Algerian-Palestinian living in the United States on a student visa.

2. Federal agents detained Khalil because he supports designated terror regime Hamas.

3. Khalil doesn’t exercise First Amendment-protected free speech—he exercises hate speech and incitement targeting Jewish people; he also exercises seditionist speech calling for America’s overthrow.

4. Khalil is spokesman for Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), the noisily pro-jihad, pro-Intifada umbrella group that actively violates Jewish students’ Civil Rights Act of 1964 Title VI protections:

5. The mayor’s oft-repeated genocide slur is part of organized Israel-annihilationists’ smear campaign against the State of Israel and the Jewish people:

**6. **Palestine is not the name of Gaza — Gaza is the name of Gaza, whence Iranian-proxy Hamas (the government of Gaza) launched its massacre and mass abductions of (mostly) Israelis on October 7th.

7. Mahmoud Khalil is not the only guy with a beloved wife and baby; Israelis also love our families — a fact from which the openly Israel-annihilationist mayor strives to deflect your attention:
