Writing in a Mangrove

Red and White Mangrove Forest
Over the last year I have started to visit a nature sanctuary located in a mangrove forest. I go there as often as I can to read and write on a small island that has a few picnic benches on it.
It’s the green and red tones of the water, leaves and bark that submerge me in its world. They seep in reminding me that I too am an organism, pure and simple and placed as evidence of a consciousness actively adding to the great pool of other organisms. It’s so good to belong to this society. In this place I can think of anything for every creative thought in me expands, in one way or the other, either as a subject for further research or as an immaterial artform. I always sit facing the same way with the breeze to my back and the watery avenue ahead filled with aerial drop roots. The monkeys use these to cross over. This ancient wetland was once an area of Amerindian settlement and there are many times that I vividly imagine a family coursing through in their dugout engaged in their daily activity of needs.
On Medium I will share thoughts on the topics that I enjoy musing over. I have a love of nature, philosophy and science ‘though they have never been a part of my profession. Marrying these subjects to this wetland space unlocks, liberates and allows.
