Canada’s U.S. Boycott – Delivering Results

Canada released information today in relation to the effectiveness of Canadians boycotting travel to the United States. It was ‘estimated’ that Canadians had reduced their visits, cross-border shopping and vacations by 24% overall.

Well the facts are in, and for Canadians, the results are quite extraordinary. Travel to the U.S. is actually down 42% overall.

Kudos Canada. I suggested earlier this year in an article that Canadians could reduce our travel to the U.S. by 50% overall. Now, I’m pretty sure that we can increase that to 75% by 2027.

And why not? CUSMA is right around the corner. Military procurement decisions will be based on verifiable agreements, not Trump’s midnight tweets and brain infarctions. As will Canada’s future oil shipments, potash shipments, rare earth shipments, aluminum, etc., etc.

Canada’s newly agreed to mega projects, of doubling Canada’s electrical distribution grid in size, while doubling its capacity, combined with Canada’s approval of another trans-mountain pipeline from Alberta to BC, and new LNG pipelines to tidewater will have profound implications for any future oil contracts to the U.S.

Canada’s electrification doesn’t end with hydroelectric and new interprovincial trunk lines. It means new solar, natural gas and nuclear reactors, some modular (SMR’s) like Clarington’s new nuclear station.

SMR’s have a significant future in the Arctic and in communities where large electrical requirements such as mines are to be built. Canada has a significant history in nuclear technologies and will soon introduce the CANDU MONARK reactor project.

Canada actually has six new reactor projects online that will add massively to Canada’s power generation and in supplying what will make Canada’s new electrical capacity that of a global energy superpower when combined with its new LNG plants (slated for construction in Alberta), solar farms, wind farms and nuclear reactors.

Canada will be shipping more than half its oil to Japan, the Republic of Korea and China, combined with purchasing Chinese Electric vehicles and very likely, producing Chinese Electric vehicles for the Canadian market, that incidentally saw a massive surge in electrification sales by a whopping 72% in 2025–6.

As the U.S. eschews logic, and doubles down on fossil fuel consumption, Canada will be rapidly electrifying, leading to almost no sales of U.S. vehicles in the future. Canada’s importation of Chinese EV’s is only a start, as new solid state construction, combined with a grid that is capable of sustaining its rapid growth comes to fruition.

Canadians are more than willing to sacrifice in order to see Canada thrive in the future, which at this point, means Canada diversifying away from the United States to the highest degree possible.
