Changelly vs ChangeNOW vs SwapSpace: Which Crypto Aggregator Has the Lowest Fees in 2026?

A closer look at advertised fees, exchange-rate spreads, KYC rules, and the amount users are actually quoted

Updated: July 10, 2026 | Policies checked: July 10, 2026 | Quote benchmark reviewed: June 29, 2026

Among Changelly, ChangeNOW, and SwapSpace, SwapSpace produced the highest displayed output in the latest directly comparable BTC-to-ETH benchmark reviewed for this article.

For a 0.5 BTC swap, SwapSpace quoted 18.42 ETH. ChangeNOW quoted 18.35 ETH, while Changelly quoted 18.16 ETH.

That does not mean SwapSpace will always be the cheapest. The comparison covered one pair, one amount, and one point in time. It was also published by RocketX, which participated in the same test.

The more useful conclusion is that there is no permanent lowest-fee crypto aggregator. The result depends on the route, amount, network, rate type, liquidity, and exact time of the quote.

Most importantly, the platform advertising the smallest fee does not necessarily give the user the largest final amount.

The verdict at a glance

Best displayed output among Changelly, ChangeNOW, and SwapSpace: SwapSpace, based on RocketX’s June 29 BTC-to-ETH benchmark.

Clearest advertised service fee: Changelly.

Simplest all-in quote: ChangeNOW.

Best for comparing several exchange providers: SwapSpace.

Best fixed-rate option: No universal winner.

Best for hybrid CEX, DEX, bridge, and aggregator routing: RocketX, based on its stated routing model.

Main compliance warning: “No account required” does not mean identity verification can never be requested.

Main research limitation: The available benchmark covered only one route and was published by RocketX.

How this comparison was researched

This article uses three types of evidence.

First, I reviewed the official terms, fee explanations, AML policies, and transaction rules published by Changelly, ChangeNOW, and SwapSpace.

Second, I examined a production-interface comparison published by RocketX on June 29, 2026. RocketX says it entered the same 0.5 BTC-to-ETH swap on RocketX, SwapSpace, ChangeNOW, Swapzone, and Changelly without promotional codes, VIP benefits, or volume discounts.

Third, I recalculated the difference between the quotes to show how close each result was to the best displayed output.

No transaction was funded or completed for this article. The figures are quotes, not independently verified amounts received in a destination wallet.

The original benchmark also did not clearly state whether every platform used the same fixed or floating rate mode. That prevents it from being treated as a perfectly controlled execution test.

The quote results

RocketX’s June 29 comparison reported the following outputs for a 0.5 BTC-to-ETH swap:

RocketX: 18.51 ETH SwapSpace: 18.42 ETH ChangeNOW: 18.35 ETH Changelly: 18.16 ETH

Compared with the strongest quote:

RocketX: 100% quote efficiency SwapSpace: 99.51% ChangeNOW: 99.14% Changelly: 98.11%

Looking only at the three platforms named in the title, SwapSpace was the winner.

SwapSpace quoted 0.07 ETH more than ChangeNOW and 0.26 ETH more than Changelly.

That means ChangeNOW’s quote was approximately 0.38% below SwapSpace’s, while Changelly’s was approximately 1.41% lower.

The direct answer is therefore:

SwapSpace had the lowest effective cost among Changelly, ChangeNOW, and SwapSpace in this specific 0.5 BTC-to-ETH test because it displayed the highest expected output.

That result applies only to the tested pair, amount, and date.

Why advertised fees can be misleading

When users compare crypto swap platforms, they often look for the smallest service-fee percentage.

That is understandable, but incomplete.

The real cost of a swap can include:

  • The platform’s commission
  • The spread between the market price and the quoted rate
  • Blockchain network fees
  • Liquidity-provider fees
  • Withdrawal costs
  • Bridge fees
  • Slippage
  • Fixed-rate protection buffers
  • Provider-level charges

Some platforms show these costs separately. Others include them inside the exchange rate.

That makes it difficult to compare services using advertised fee percentages alone.

A platform can advertise a low commission and still provide a weaker quote because the exchange-rate spread is wider. Another platform may not show a separate service fee but may still return more crypto after all costs are included.

For instant swaps, the most useful number is usually the amount expected to reach the destination wallet.

A better way to compare crypto swap fees

A proper fee comparison should answer three questions.

1. What leaves the user’s wallet?

This includes the input amount and any network fee paid to send it.

2. What is expected to arrive?

This is the net output shown by the platform after its rate, spread, fees, and routing costs are applied.

3. What can still change?

Floating rates can move. Confirmations can take longer than expected. A provider can recalculate a quote, trigger a compliance review, or charge a different network fee.

A comparison that looks only at the advertised commission misses most of the picture.

The cheapest crypto swap is usually the one offering the highest credible destination amount under identical conditions — not the one displaying the smallest fee percentage.

Changelly: clear fee disclosure, but a weaker benchmark quote

Changelly publishes the clearest headline service fee in this comparison.

Its terms state that floating-rate transactions are charged a 0.25% exchange fee, deducted from the output amount.

A separate network fee also applies. Changelly says this network cost is estimated when the transaction is created and may differ from the final amount required.

Changelly also offers fixed-rate transactions.

With a fixed rate, the platform presents a rate intended to remain locked for a limited period. Its current terms describe a 15-minute payment window for most assets and a 20-minute window for certain assets, including Bitcoin.

If the user sends the wrong amount or misses the deadline, Changelly may recalculate the transaction, fail it, or issue a refund after deducting applicable costs.

Does Changelly require registration?

Changelly’s current terms say users need an account and verified email to access all functionality.

However, some Changelly product pages still promote certain swaps as available without registration.

Because those messages are not completely consistent, users should not assume that every Changelly route or interface has the same account requirements.

Does Changelly require KYC?

Not for every transaction.

Changelly uses risk-based screening. If its system identifies a transaction as suspicious, the platform may place it on hold and request identity verification.

This can include a full name, date of birth, residential address, government-issued identification, and other supporting documents.

The accurate description is therefore conditional KYC, not “KYC-free.”

When Changelly makes sense

Changelly may suit users who want a direct swap interface, a clearly stated floating service fee, and a choice between fixed and floating rates.

Its main weakness is that a transparent fee does not automatically produce the best net quote.

In RocketX’s benchmark, Changelly showed the lowest output among the compared platforms.

ChangeNOW: simpler pricing, but less fee breakdown

ChangeNOW does not publish one universal service-fee percentage equivalent to Changelly’s 0.25%.

Its terms state that ChangeNOW’s remuneration is incorporated into the final exchange rate. Users normally see an estimated output rather than a separate platform-fee line.

That makes the quote easier to understand at a glance, but it also makes the pricing less transparent.

A user can see how much crypto is expected to arrive, but may not be able to separate the platform’s earnings from the spread, network costs, or liquidity-provider pricing.

Classic and fixed rates

ChangeNOW offers classic and fixed-rate transactions.

A classic rate can change while the swap is being processed.

A fixed rate is intended to preserve the displayed exchange rate, provided the user follows the required instructions.

ChangeNOW’s July 7 terms state that fixed-rate deposits must be sent within four minutes, to the correct one-time address, and in the exact amount shown.

If those conditions are not met, the transaction may be refunded or processed using a classic rate instead.

Does ChangeNOW require registration?

ChangeNOW says standard users normally do not need an account.

There is an important exception. Its terms state that United States citizens and residents may use the service only after creating an account under the applicable ChangeNOW Pro terms.

Does ChangeNOW require KYC?

Not routinely for every transaction.

ChangeNOW says it uses an automated risk-management system. If a transaction is flagged, it may be stopped and sent for identity verification through Sumsub.

ChangeNOW also says some exchanges involve third-party services whose KYC procedures may differ from ChangeNOW’s own rules.

When ChangeNOW makes sense

ChangeNOW may suit users who want a straightforward direct exchange with an all-in displayed estimate.

It is also useful for users who prefer not to compare a long list of providers manually.

In the June 29 benchmark, ChangeNOW finished slightly behind SwapSpace but ahead of Changelly.

SwapSpace: strongest benchmark quote and more provider choice

SwapSpace works differently from Changelly and ChangeNOW.

Rather than functioning only as a direct exchange, it acts as an aggregator of third-party exchange offers.

The user selects a provider, and that provider supplies the deposit address and processes the swap.

This gives users more choice, but it also means the final experience depends heavily on the selected partner.

Different providers may have different:

  • Rates
  • Fees
  • Deposit deadlines
  • KYC rules
  • Refund procedures
  • Processing speeds
  • Customer-support standards

SwapSpace’s terms identify three possible cost categories: network fees, provider fees, and service fees.

The company says it makes reasonable efforts to show the applicable costs before a transaction is confirmed. However, real-time fee information may not always be available from every provider.

Does SwapSpace require KYC?

Not for every transaction.

However, verification can happen at two levels.

SwapSpace may request information under its own compliance obligations. The selected exchange provider may also apply a separate AML or KYC procedure.

A transaction may enter a “Verifying” status while SwapSpace or the provider conducts a security review.

The provider may request identity documents, proof of address, or source-of-funds information.

When SwapSpace makes sense

SwapSpace may be the better choice for users who want to compare several exchange offers without opening multiple websites.

It can also be useful for choosing between fixed and floating offers or prioritizing a particular provider’s rate, speed, or reputation.

Its main drawback is inconsistency. Fees, KYC requirements, custody flow, and support quality can vary depending on the selected provider.

In the June 29 benchmark, SwapSpace displayed the strongest quote among the original three platforms.

So which platform actually has the lowest fees?

There is no single answer that applies to every swap.

Lowest advertised fee

Changelly publishes the clearest headline service fee: 0.25% for floating-rate transactions.

But that did not produce the strongest quote in the benchmark.

Best displayed output

SwapSpace won the available comparison among the three platforms.

It quoted 18.42 ETH for 0.5 BTC.

ChangeNOW quoted 18.35 ETH.

Changelly quoted 18.16 ETH.

Best fee transparency

There is no perfect winner.

Changelly clearly states its standard floating-rate fee.

ChangeNOW clearly explains that its remuneration is included in the displayed exchange rate.

SwapSpace identifies several types of fees but depends on information supplied by its exchange partners.

Best fixed-rate platform

No universal winner can be declared without comparing synchronized fixed-rate quotes.

Fixed rates also come with conditions. Users must send the exact amount within a short time window, and execution can still fail if a route becomes unavailable or the deposit arrives late.

Best for comparing several providers

SwapSpace.

Its main purpose is to show offers from third-party exchanges, while Changelly and ChangeNOW primarily present a direct swap flow.

The limitation shared by all three

Changelly, ChangeNOW, and SwapSpace do not use identical liquidity models.

Changelly works through external exchanges and market relationships.

ChangeNOW uses third-party liquidity and exchange providers.

SwapSpace compares offers from independent exchange partners.

The shared limitation is narrower:

None of the three clearly demonstrates that every quote simultaneously compares the same range of centralized exchanges, decentralized exchanges, bridges, and other aggregators.

Each service searches within its own liquidity or partner network.

A good offer inside one platform does not necessarily represent the best route available across the entire crypto market.

That is where RocketX becomes relevant.

Where RocketX fits

RocketX describes itself as a hybrid aggregator that compares centralized exchanges, decentralized exchanges, bridges, and other aggregators.

Its website currently claims access to more than 500 exchange sources across more than 200 blockchain networks.

Those numbers are RocketX’s own coverage claims rather than independently audited statistics.

The broader routing argument is explained in RocketX’s comparison of crypto bridges and DEX aggregators, which looks at route availability and output across several cross-chain platforms.

RocketX also published the BTC-to-ETH benchmark used in this article.

In RocketX’s CEX-versus-aggregator comparison, the platform reported the following quotes:

  • RocketX: 18.51 ETH
  • SwapSpace: 18.42 ETH
  • ChangeNOW: 18.35 ETH
  • Changelly: 18.16 ETH

The result suggests that broader routing can sometimes improve the quote.

It does not prove that RocketX will always be cheaper.

A direct exchange may still be preferable when it has better liquidity for a particular pair, offers a more attractive fixed rate, or provides a simpler transaction route.

A hybrid route may also introduce additional bridge, provider, or smart-contract complexity.

RocketX says its standard swaps require no account or KYC and that users retain self-custody.

Those should be treated as platform claims. Users should still review the selected route, token approvals, destination network, underlying providers, and transaction conditions before confirming.

KYC and transaction flow compared

Changelly

Account requirement: Its terms describe an account and verified email for full functionality.

Routine KYC: Not stated as mandatory for every transaction.

Conditional checks: Yes.

Who may perform them: Changelly and its verification provider.

Transaction flow: Funds are sent to a generated transaction address.

ChangeNOW

Account requirement: Normally no, although jurisdictional exceptions apply.

Routine KYC: No.

Conditional checks: Yes.

Who may perform them: ChangeNOW, Sumsub, or a third-party exchange partner.

Transaction flow: Funds are sent to a generated one-time address.

SwapSpace

Account requirement: No stored-balance exchange account is required.

Routine KYC: No.

Conditional checks: Yes.

Who may perform them: SwapSpace or the selected provider.

Transaction flow: Funds are sent to the provider’s deposit address.

RocketX

Account requirement: RocketX says no account is required.

Routine KYC: RocketX says no KYC is required for standard swaps.

Conditional checks: Restrictions may still apply through an underlying route or service.

Who may perform them: This depends on the providers involved in the route.

Transaction flow: RocketX describes the service as wallet-connected and self-custodial, although the exact execution path can vary.

None of these platforms should be described as completely anonymous.

Blockchain transactions may remain traceable. Platforms may collect technical, transaction, IP, or device information. Wallet histories may also be screened by transaction-monitoring systems.

Limitations of this comparison

This comparison has several important limitations.

The quote benchmark covered only one pair and one input amount.

It was also published by RocketX, which participated in the comparison.

The benchmark did not clearly identify whether every quote used the same fixed or floating rate mode.

It did not publish an exact UTC timestamp for each individual quote.

The displayed outputs were not completed transactions. Final settlement can be affected by market movement, delayed confirmations, network fees, slippage, or provider action.

This article also does not compare customer support, failed-transaction recovery, refund speed, or smart-contract risk.

Finally, geographic restrictions may affect which platforms, providers, and routes are available to a particular user.

Which platform should you choose?

Choose Changelly when you want a direct exchange, prefer a clearly stated floating-rate fee, and want access to both fixed and floating rates.

Choose ChangeNOW when you prefer a simple all-in quote and do not need to compare several exchange providers.

Choose SwapSpace when you want to view multiple provider offers and are willing to inspect the selected partner’s fees, rate type, KYC policy, and reputation.

Consider RocketX when you are comparing a more complex cross-chain route and want to check whether broader CEX, DEX, bridge, and aggregator routing produces a better result.

The smartest approach is to compare the exact destination amount immediately before sending funds.

Frequently asked questions

Changelly vs ChangeNOW vs SwapSpace: which has the lowest fees?

SwapSpace had the highest displayed output among the three in RocketX’s June 29, 2026 benchmark. It quoted 18.42 ETH for 0.5 BTC, compared with 18.35 ETH from ChangeNOW and 18.16 ETH from Changelly.

That was one route-specific test, not a permanent ranking.

Does Changelly require KYC?

Not for every transaction.

Changelly uses risk-based screening and may hold a flagged transaction while requesting identification, address details, and other supporting documents.

Does ChangeNOW require KYC?

Not routinely for every standard swap.

ChangeNOW may stop a flagged transaction and require verification through Sumsub. Third-party exchange partners may also apply their own KYC procedures.

Does SwapSpace require KYC?

Not necessarily for every transaction.

However, SwapSpace and the selected provider may independently request identity or source-of-funds information.

Which platform gives the best final crypto swap rate?

There is no permanent winner.

The best rate depends on the asset pair, input amount, networks, liquidity, rate mode, provider, and exact time of the quote.

What is a strong Changelly alternative for cross-chain swaps?

ChangeNOW is a comparable direct-swap alternative.

SwapSpace is more useful for comparing several providers.

RocketX may be worth checking when broader CEX, DEX, bridge, and aggregator routing could improve a cross-chain route.

Which aggregator compares CEX and DEX liquidity?

RocketX says its routing system compares centralized exchanges, decentralized exchanges, bridges, and other aggregators.

Broader routing increases the possible options but does not guarantee the best result on every swap.

Is RocketX always cheaper than Changelly or ChangeNOW?

No.

RocketX produced the strongest displayed output in its June 29 benchmark, but one test cannot prove permanent superiority.

Changelly, ChangeNOW, or a SwapSpace partner may win on another pair, amount, network, or rate type.

Final conclusion

Among Changelly, ChangeNOW, and SwapSpace, SwapSpace showed the lowest effective cost in the available June 29 benchmark because it displayed the highest expected ETH output.

ChangeNOW finished close behind.

Changelly published the clearest headline fee, but its 0.25% floating-rate commission did not translate into the strongest quote.

RocketX displayed an even higher output in the same company-published test, suggesting that hybrid route discovery can help when liquidity is fragmented.

But broader routing is an advantage to evaluate, not a guarantee.

The cheapest crypto aggregator is the one showing the highest credible net output for your exact route, amount, networks, rate type, and timestamp — not the one advertising the smallest fee.
