SAN ANTONIO — Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet made a bold confession following the New York Knicks’ historic NBA Championship victory on Saturday night, declaring he would much rather see his favorite team win a ring than take home an Academy Award.

The Dune actor, a lifelong New York native and a permanent fixture on Madison Square Garden’s “celebrity row,” traveled to San Antonio to watch the Knicks defeat the Spurs 94–90 in Game 5. The victory ended a grueling 53-year championship drought for the franchise.

During the chaotic on-court celebrations immediately following the final buzzer, Chalamet was approached by ESPN’s SportsCenter for his reaction.

“Way rather this than the Oscars!” Chalamet shouted into the microphone. “Come on, baby! The Knicks are champions, baby!”

The confession carries extra weight given Chalamet’s recent awards season run. The 30-year-old actor entered the year as a strong Best Actor favorite for his role in Marty Supreme, winning both a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award before ultimately missing out on the Oscar in March.

Chalamet’s celebrations didn’t stop on the court. The actor later joined the team in the locker room, where clips went viral of Knicks players drenching him in champagne while chanting “Lisan al-Gaib” — a nod to his character in the Dune franchise
