A few days ago, I finished reading a book—and by the time I reached the end, I was in tears. It was one of those stories that lingers in your heart, where the characters’ pain starts to feel like your own.

And today, while I was in a public place, I overheard something that shook me. A girl—probably around 23 or 24 years old—was shouting at a boy who looked barely 13 or 14. She said: "It would've been better if you'd never entered my life. You've already ruined your parents' lives, and now mine too. You should just go die somewhere... Either leave, or kill me and then go!"

I don’t know what their story was, or what led to that outburst. But the moment I heard those words, a chill ran down my spine. Because strangely, they reminded me of that book I had read—the emotions, the helplessness, the deep ache. Everything came rushing back.

It made me realise something powerful: Words aren't just sounds—weapons or blessings depending on how we use them. What we say in a moment of anger can scar someone for life. A single cruel sentence can destroy a heart already on the verge of breaking.

We need to be more mindful. We must weigh our words like they have the power to heal or harm—because they do. Sometimes, a harsh sentence can push a person into silence forever. And sometimes, a kind word can become the reason someone chooses to stay alive.

So next time you’re about to speak—pause. Breathe. Think. Because for someone else, your words might just be the turning point between hope and heartbreak.
