Parable of the Sower
“But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
Often when reading the “Parable of the Sower” it calls to mind what is faith and where are we in our faith journey? I often think that there are times where I resonate with multiple parts of the verse.
Some [the seeds] fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.
Where evil may consume our lives and where we may forget our faith. We are not perfect and this is bound to happen from time to time. I have seen so many people abandon faith because evil can creep and seemingly wipe out good.
Some [the seeds] fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But, when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.
Where our faith may be a like a “on and off switch”. We receive God’s love in bits and pieces. Often talking at God only for our needs not to worship, praise, and be grateful. However, because we do not take time to build that relationship it can succumb to ruin by our daily lives and sin.
Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.
Where we receive God’s love but allow worldly pressure to crush our relationship with Jesus.
However, the main message from the Parable of the Sower is that there are phases in our journey towards having a loving relationship with God. However, if we receive it and cultivate it, even the little faith we have like that mustard seeds keeps growing and growing. That is the beauty of faith, when we do not let go of Jesus we can begin to see our faith build better actions and words within us.
