Joshua teaches me to remember God after blessings come. Judges teaches me tht people can slowly drift away from what is right. Ruth teaches me tht even in dark times, kindness and faithfulness still matter very much.

A long time ago, God’s people finally reached the special land He promised them after many years of slavery, walking in the desert, fear, and waiting.

Moses had died, so Joshua became the new leader. The people stood beside the Jordan River, ready to enter the Promised Land their parents had dreamed about for years. Then God did something amazing. Just like He parted the Red Sea before, God stopped the Jordan River so the people could walk safely across on dry ground.

After they crossed, they picked up big stones and stacked them together as a reminder. The stones were there to say: “Don’t forget what God did for you.” Because people forget very quickly. Sometimes we pray for help, and after things become better, we slowly stop remembering who helped us.

Then came the city of Jericho. God told the people to walk around the city once every day for six days. On the seventh day, they walked around it seven times. Then the trumpets blew. And the walls fell down.

sometimes victory does not come from being the strongest. Sometimes it comes from trusting God.

But after entering the Promised Land, the people slowly began forgetting God again. They started copying the people around them. They wanted the same things everyone else wanted money, comfort, success and power. Instead of following God fully, they mixed their faith with other beliefs. That caused many problems…

Then the Bible moves into the book of Judges. Judges is one of the saddest books in the Bible. A line repeats again and again: “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” = people stopped listening to God and only did whatever they personally wanted. And slowly, everything became messy. People hurt one another. Leaders failed. Violence increased. Fear spread everywhere.

• God rescued them
• peace returned
• then people forgot God again

The Bible wants us to notice how humans repeat mistakes. Some of the judges were brave, but also flawed. Gideon was afraid when God called him a “mighty warrior.” Samson was very strong, but made many foolish choices because he could not control his anger, pride, and desires. it teach us that strength on the outside means little if our hearts are unhealthy inside. As Judges continues, the world becomes darker and darker.

suddenly comes the story of Ruth. Ruth feels gentle after all the chaos. Naomi lost her husband and sons and became very sad. Ruth, her daughter-in-law, could have left her. But Ruth stayed. She told Naomi: “Where you go I will go… your people will be my people and your God my God.” Ruth stayed loyal even during hard times. No giant miracles happen in Ruth. No seas split. No walls fall. but people help each other, show kindness, share food, and stay faithful quietly. Boaz protects Ruth and Naomi with kindness and generosity. And later, Ruth becomes part of the family line of King David and eventually Jesus.

God works through ordinary people, outsiders, broken people, kind people, faithful people

The books of Joshua, Judges, and Ruth recount the history of Israel’s early days in the Promised Land. But deeper down, it tells the story of humanity on how easily people forget, how slowly compromise grows, how fragile societies become, and how quiet faithfulness still matters even in dark times. It reveals a continuing cycle of God’s faithfulness despite human failure, ultimately paving the way for the nation’s kings.
