We all see differently

Whew, getting one in under the wire here for the Perspective theme for May. I mean, perspective is one of my ‘things’ in photography. It’s also one of my things in life to be honest.

I’ve always had a bit of a different way of looking at the world around me and living it as well.

In my photography, I’m always looking for different and unique perspectives. Although, I have plenty of views through a wine glass and also wine glass shadows because I can’t help myself when those scenes appear in front of me.

This is a view from the front of the hotel we stayed in on the East Coast of England. It’s very near Bamburgh Castle and the North Sea is right across the road. What a lovely perspective and perfect place to sit and relax.

Another perspective that is constantly catching my eye is that of the reflections in my tea cups. I have a number of images of the blinds in my office reflected in my morning tea.

This one is from Palm Court at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. We splurged and had afternoon tea there. Fancy and oh so good.

Reading changes our perspectives. It opens our minds and allows us to see the world from someone else’s perspective.

This is an amazing book which I may finish some day. Maybe. It’s 665 pages, mostly images but a beautiful way to see the way others see.

A couple more books about seeing and creativity. They both sparked new ideas in my head. Sometimes all it takes is a simple image with a question to push yourself to change your perspective.

I will never pass up a good staircase. This one was in the Magpie Cafe, a famous fish and chips shop in Whitby, England. We had it on good authority that is was some of the best fish and chips people ever had. We enjoyed it very much.

Always on the lookout for possible staircases that are photogenic, I opened a side door in the hallway to our room at the Queens Hotel. I was rewarded with this beautiful stairway.

A year ago or so, I took my book to be included on the local authors shelf at a nearby library. I was taken with the beautiful architecture and had to wander around and grab a few photos from above and below.

Downtown Chicago has an infinite number of perspectives available. It never gets old.

The Willis (Sears) Tower reflected. Beyond looking up, using windows, mirrors and other reflective surfaces can be a fun way to find interesting and unique perspectives.

I pulled all of these images from my Google Photos. Some are new, some are old. Some are edited, some are not. Some are phone images and others are from my DSLR. Does it even matter anymore, any of this? Guess it depends on your perspective.
