The Billionaire’s Forgotten Bride
Chapter 2: The Billionaire Returns
Three days had passed since the mysterious phone call.
But Maya couldn’t forget those words.
“Your marriage was never as simple as you thought.”
She had replayed the conversation countless times, searching for a clue.
Who was that person?
And what secret was she talking about?
Maya placed her hand gently over her stomach.
She still hadn’t told Adrian.
Part of her wanted to call him immediately.
But another part remembered the way he looked at her on their divorce day.
Cold.
Distant.
Like she was someone he regretted loving.
She shook her head.
“No.”
A bitter smile appeared on her face.
“I don’t need him to choose me anymore.”
She looked around her small apartment.
It wasn’t luxurious like the mansion she once lived in with Adrian.
But it was peaceful.
For the first time in years, she wasn’t waiting for someone who never came home.
Meanwhile, at Knight International Holdings.
Adrian Knight stood beside the floor-to-ceiling window of his office, watching the city below.
His assistant, Daniel, placed a file on the table.
“Sir, the investigation report you requested.”
Adrian turned around.
“About Maya?”
Daniel nodded.
“Yes.”
Adrian picked up the file.
For two weeks, he had tried to convince himself that leaving Maya was the right decision.
But something felt wrong.
The night before their divorce, he had received a message.
A message that changed everything.
A photo.
A conversation between Maya and another man.
It appeared like she had betrayed him.
But Adrian had never asked her for an explanation.
Because if it was true…
He wasn’t sure he could survive hearing it from her mouth.
He opened the file.
His expression slowly changed.
“This isn’t possible.”
Daniel lowered his voice.
“What did you find?”
Adrian stared at the documents.
The evidence he had received two weeks ago was fake.
The phone number belonged to someone else.
The photos had been edited.
Someone had deliberately tried to destroy his marriage.
“Who did this?” Adrian asked coldly.
Daniel hesitated.
“We are still investigating.”
Adrian closed the file.
His jaw tightened.
Then another thought entered his mind.
Maya.
He had pushed her away.
He had hurt her.
And she left without fighting.
Why?
Because she was innocent?
That evening.
Maya was leaving a small café after work when a black luxury car stopped in front of her.
Her heart froze.
She knew that car.
The door opened.
Adrian Knight stepped out.
The man she had tried so hard to forget.
The man who had destroyed her heart.
“Maya.”
His voice was softer than she remembered.
She tightened her grip on her handbag.
“What are you doing here?”
Adrian looked at her.
For the first time in years, he looked uncertain.
“I need to talk to you.”
She laughed quietly.
“Talk?”
She looked at him.
“You didn’t want to talk when you signed the divorce papers.”
His eyes darkened.
“Maya, I was wrong.”
Those words shocked her.
Adrian Knight admitting he was wrong?
Impossible.
She took a step back.
“It’s too late.”
He wanted to reply, but his eyes suddenly moved downward.
To her hand.
To the medical report she was holding.
A report she had forgotten to put away.
Adrian’s expression changed.
“What is that?”
Maya froze.
She knew this moment would come eventually.
She slowly moved the paper behind her.
“Nothing.”
Adrian walked closer.
“Maya.”
His voice became serious.
“Why is there a pregnancy report with your name on it?”
Silence.
The world seemed to stop.
Maya’s fingers tightened around the paper.
She looked at the man standing in front of her.
The man who had broken her heart.
The father of her child.
“Adrian…”
His eyes locked onto hers.
“Are you pregnant?”
She didn’t answer.
She didn’t need to.
Her silence was enough.
Adrian took a step back.
For the first time, the powerful billionaire looked completely shaken.
“Is it mine?”
Maya’s eyes filled with tears.
She couldn’t believe that was his first question.
“Of course it’s yours.”
Her voice trembled.
“But don’t worry.”
She wiped her tears quickly.
“I won’t ask you for anything.”
Adrian stared at her.
Something inside him broke.
Because for the first time, he realized something terrifying.
He had lost the woman he loved.
And he might lose his child too.
Before he could speak, his phone rang.
Daniel’s name appeared on the screen.
Adrian answered.
“What happened?”
Daniel’s voice sounded urgent.
“Sir… we found the person behind the fake evidence.”
Adrian’s face turned cold.
“Who?”
A pause.
Then Daniel said:
“It was someone close to you.”
Adrian’s eyes moved back to Maya.
And suddenly, he knew.
Their divorce was never caused by a mistake.
It was planned.
To be continued…
