I saw a post recently where someone said we should all let a certain trend die.
And it made me think,
why does it always have to be all of us?
Why can’t it just be a personal choice?

Mary McDonald
Lately, I’ve been paying more attention to how easily I get influenced.
How quickly things start to feel like defaults instead of decisions.
I notice how similar everything looks now.
The same kinds of photos.
The same aesthetics.
The same interests.
Pilates becomes a personality.
Certain looks become the standard.
“Put together” starts to mean looking the same.
There’s nothing wrong with liking what’s popular.
I like some of it too.
But sometimes I have to ask myself
whether I actually want these things,
or whether I’ve just seen them enough times to believe I do.
Social media makes it easy to blur the line.
You don’t feel fake, you just feel shaped.
You curate without realizing you’re editing parts of yourself.
This isn’t about trends being bad
or people doing things wrong.
It’s just me being honest with myself.
Checking in.
Asking what still feels like me when no one’s watching.
Because trends move fast.
And it’s easy to lose yourself without noticing.
