Maersk Opens USD 140 Million Flagship Logistics Centre in Shanghai’s Lin-gang

A.P. Moller — Maersk has officially inaugurated its flagship logistics centre in Shanghai’s Lin-gang area, marking one of the company’s most significant global warehousing investments. With over USD 140 million invested, the state-of-the-art facility reinforces Maersk’s commitment to expanding integrated logistics capabilities in China and across the Asia-Pacific region.

The newly launched centre spans 113,000 square meters and provides 147,000 square meters of storage space, designed to enhance omnichannel fulfilment for customers operating in global trade. Strategically located in Lin-gang — an emerging logistics and innovation hub — the flagship site is set to become a central pillar within Maersk’s end-to-end logistics ecosystem.

Senior officials and dignitaries attended the inauguration ceremony, including Zhao Yihuai, Vice Chairman of Lin-gang Special Area Administration; Jens Alsbirk, Consul General of Denmark in Shanghai; Zhou Ying, Deputy Director General of the Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission; along with representatives from Yangshan Customs, the Market Regulation Bureau, and Lingang Tax Bureau. Their presence underscored the strategic importance of the project for regional and international trade flows.

According to Maersk, the logistics centre is designed to serve not only domestic Chinese customers but also businesses across the Asia-Pacific and global markets. The facility integrates a full range of fulfilment solutions, supporting faster, more efficient, and more flexible logistics operations. Its capabilities aim to help companies overcome increasingly complex supply chain challenges while enabling growth through resilient trade networks.

Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk, described the centre as “another milestone in the implementation of Maersk’s integrated logistics strategy in the Chinese market.” He emphasized China’s dual significance as the world’s largest exporter and a major consumer market, making the Lin-gang investment vital for strengthening connectivity between China and global trade corridors.

Clerc added that the centre significantly boosts Maersk’s omnichannel fulfilment capabilities, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to modernizing logistics solutions and supporting customer competitiveness. Maersk sees this expansion as a key step in helping businesses streamline operations, adapt to changing trade conditions, and unlock new opportunities.
