The work of Natasha Khabarova. Intimacy, loneliness and reflection.

Natasha Khabarova (born in 1985 in Russia) — representative of a new generation of painters from St. Petersburg. She works with different styles, from painting and graphics to photography. Major topics that a lot of her art is dedicated to are body image, intimicy, self-reflecton and emotional burden that our body carries with it. We can call her style a neo-expressionism.

Natasha Khabarova
She deliberately uses the damaged canvases, rubbers and holes as an argument — to support her ideas with action and try to be as clear with us, audience, as possible. It is often very hard to get your idea to somebody and materials she is using help her do it better.
In all her works, Natasha Khabarov portrays a “muted person”. To elaborate: the absence of the plot is replaced by an emotional tension of the body condition. It can be felt thanks to the translucency, unnatural or conversely natural body curves.
