Bon Voyage, my little friend

Personal story reflecting the interconnectedness of the universe.

Post dedicated to my little friend: On 15 May 2025, early in the morning, I found this little fellow on one corner of my balcony. It appeared to be sick with some digestive issues. I did some Reiki, hoping the bird would be open to receiving the healing energy and feel some comfort. I also kept some water and whatever food I could find near it. It drank some water but mostly stayed still, possibly trying to deal with the situation. I tried to understand what this experience was teaching me and realized that it taught me compassion but also letting go. The pigeon had come to my balcony to isolate itself and needed that space. Somewhere between 7.30 p.m., when I had last checked on it, and 9.15 p.m., it passed away. It took me a moment to accept that it had died. I felt some grief for my little friend, as I was hoping it would rest and feel better by the morning. I asked the divine, why did this happen? What did this death indicate to me, and I realized how death just indicates the end of one cycle and the beginning of another. I felt it indicated a major transformative change or shift, and my little friend showed me that.

The next morning, I prepared to bury my friend and asked the universe for guidance. I believed it was going to be an adventure finding the little fellow’s body its final resting place within the mother earth. I got some guidance from a local vet and then found some empty space. I did not have any tools and used a screwdriver to dig a hole. The ground was hard, even after sprinkling some water on it, and I was having a hard time digging. I asked the divine for some guidance. Shortly, a shepherd with his herd of calves passed by. Then he came back and enquired what I was doing. I told him, and he guided me to a nearby space that was already dug out. He assured me that it would be a while before someone would come and do further work, but it would be easier for me to dig with my screwdriver. He then guided me to the exact place to dig. It was about to rain, and so I hurriedly completed the process while he watched for a while. It started raining heavily, and I wanted to thank him before leaving, but couldn’t see him or his herd. I was drenched in rain, so I ran towards my car. While in the car, I felt thankful for this experience. It was indeed adventurous but also showed me how the universe is always available for guidance whenever you need it. And I’m thankful to my friend for giving me this experience.
