Coin Flip Drama! Psychology Futsal Team Defeats Fiskom to Reach POM UKSW Semifinals

A dramatic and intense match took place at the UKSW Student Sports Week (POM) as the Faculty of Psychology futsal team faced the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fiskom) at the Arena Futsal on Thursday (18/6/2026). After a long battle that came down to a penalty shootout and a coin flip, Psychology secured their ticket to the semifinals.

​The match, which ran from 3:30 PM to 4:10 PM, was packed with high tension. The heat was felt not only by the players on the court but also by the supporters in the stands. Both teams were equally strong, creating a thrilling game of non-stop attacks from both sides.

​Because they were so evenly matched, the regular game ended in a 1-1 draw. To break the tie, the referee called for a penalty shootout. ​However, the drama only grew as both teams showed incredible focus, tying the shootout at 4-4. With the game completely stuck, the referees and committee decided to choose the winner using a coin flip.

​In that crucial moment, Psychology chose "heads" (picture) and Fiskom chose "tails" (number). Luck was on Psychology’s side as the coin landed on heads. Winning the flip, Psychology chose to be the kicker for the sudden-death penalty, while Fiskom took the goalkeeper position. ​The final kicker from Psychology did not waste the golden opportunity. They calmly scored the winning goal, ending the intense match.

With this victory, the Psychology futsal team successfully advances to the POM UKSW semifinals, which will take place on Monday, June 22, 2026.
