Pages of the Nest

A poem for those who spent years searching for what was quietly holding them all along

“When she was blessed with the best of life, she never knew — she belonged to the nest.”

There are seasons in life when we mistake love for limitation, silence for peace, and distance for freedom.

This poem was born from that realization.

When she was blessed to stay at home,

She longed to break free;

Yet soon counted the heartbeats

Of her own homecoming.

When she was blessed with

the storm’s warm wrath,

She yearned for the hush that follows;

Yet craved, in the silence,

The echo of her own voice.

When she was blessed to

lock horns beneath one roof,

She prayed for the storm to

lay down its sword;

Yet waited, in still waters,

For her tide to return.

When she was blessed with

the best of life,

She never knew —

she belonged to the nest.

May none of us ink the hurt

She carved into her pages;

Instead, let us smile at the quiet gifts

Life leaves waiting in our hands.

Sometimes the home we long for is the one we never truly left.
