SUI and AVAX Unlocks Show Lower Dilution Risk

May’s token unlock calendar presents several important supply-side events that could influence altcoin trading conditions throughout the month. The schedule includes SUI, SXT, AVAX, PYTH, ZRO, HUMA, and JUP, with unlock values ranging from $6.42 million to more than $100 million. Token unlocks are closely watched because they increase circulating supply and can affect market sentiment, especially when early investors or private-sale participants receive newly available tokens. While unlocks do not automatically lead to selling pressure, they often create volatility windows as traders adjust positioning before and after the scheduled release dates.

The largest unlock by value is PYTH, scheduled for May 19, with $100.91 million worth of tokens entering circulation. It also has the highest circulating supply unlock ratio at 36.96%, making it the most significant event on the calendar from both a dollar-value and dilution-risk perspective. This combination may create meaningful market pressure if unlocked tokens are sold into the market. HUMA also stands out with a 20.04% circulating supply unlock on May 26, valued at $9.64 million, while SXT will unlock 23.20% of its circulating supply on May 8, worth $6.42 million.

Not all large unlocks carry the same level of dilution risk. SUI will unlock $39.42 million on May 1, but this represents only 1.08% of circulating supply. Similarly, AVAX will unlock $15.28 million on May 12, equal to just 0.31% of circulating supply, suggesting a more limited supply impact despite the larger nominal value. JUP’s May 28 unlock is valued at $10.09 million, or 1.51% of circulating supply. These lower-percentage unlocks may still attract trader attention, but they are less likely to create severe supply pressure unless broader market liquidity weakens.

ZRO sits between the high-risk and lower-risk categories, with a $37.02 million unlock on May 20 representing 5.07% of circulating supply. This makes it more meaningful than SUI, AVAX, or JUP in percentage terms, but less extreme than PYTH, SXT, or HUMA. For traders, the key distinction is whether the market absorbs newly unlocked tokens without major price disruption. Strong spot volume, stable order books, and limited post-unlock selling would suggest healthy demand. Weak liquidity or accelerating sell volume could indicate that supply pressure is overwhelming current market appetite.

Overall, May’s unlock schedule shows that percentage of circulating supply may be more important than headline unlock value. PYTH is the clearest risk event due to its $100.91 million unlock and 36.96% supply release, while SXT and HUMA also carry elevated dilution risk. By contrast, SUI, AVAX, and JUP have larger or moderate dollar unlocks but relatively small circulating supply increases. Traders may need to monitor price behavior before each unlock date, as markets often front-run supply events before reassessing once the new tokens are absorbed.
