Quran holds an esteemed place among all scriptures in the world and perhaps the most preeminent in the esteem of Muslims. Literally, it means the Word of Allah (God) that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) over a period of 23 years through the angel Jibreel. The Quran is not merely a book; it covers the guide for the followers regarding every aspect of human life, be it spiritual or social or moral or legal.

The Quran as the Word of Allah

They lacerate the soul with solace, clarifying all doubts and debating all unanswered mysteries of existence.

Another challenge posed to mankind by the Quran is to ponder over its meanings. Its appeal is to the intellect of the world to ponder ever deeper upon the universe, life, creation, and his very being. Surah Al-Baqarah (2:164): "Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day and the [great] ships which sail through the sea with that which benefits people and what Allah sent down from the heavens in rain, giving life to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing all kinds of moving creatures therein and directing of the winds and the clouds controlled between heaven and earth are signs for a people who use reason."

Guidance For Mankind

The Quran is basically the guidance of mankind.
