The One HIMYM Decision I’ll Never Understand !

Anyone who has watched How I Met Your Mother probably remembers one of the biggest moments from the first season: Lily leaving Marshall to pursue an art fellowship in San Francisco. Because she fears losing her identity since they started dating so young.

So I don’t understand that the show spent the entire first season convincing us that Marshall and Lily had one of the healthiest relationships on television. They had already planned their future together. They were about to get married, they trusted each other , an they always seemed to communicate honestly.Thats exactly why Lily ’s decision felt so unexpected to me

My biggest problem isn’t that Lily wanted to follow her dream. It is okey to she wanted to discover herself outside of the relationship. What I don’t understand is how she handled it .

She waited until the last moment to tell Marshall.Instead of having an honest conversation with the person she was about to marry in couple weeks, she made a life — changing decision on her own. I don’t think Lily was so wrong for chasing her dream. I think she was wrong in the way she left Marshall.

I know many fans understand Lily’s decision, and I respect that. But for me, this storyline never felt believable. It wasn’t the decision itself that bothered me — it was the way it happened. That’s why, even after rewatching the series several times, this is still one TV decision I’ll never understand.
