GoodDollar and Flow State Partner to Expand Streaming Funding with G$

TL;DR

  • GoodDollar and Flow State are partnering to help grant programs, DAOs, public goods communities, and builder networks launch streaming funding rounds using G$.
  • Eligible rounds can receive 10% matching from GoodDollar, plus Superfluid $SUP rewards.
  • Streaming funding lets communities support builders, contributors, public goods, and ecosystem initiatives through continuous, adaptive funding.
  • The goal is simple: help more communities experiment with streaming funding models that are continuous, adaptive, and participatory.
  • Communities interested in running a G$ streaming funding round can get in touch with GoodDollar and Flow State or launch a Flow Council.

Why streaming funding?

Most funding programs still happen in fixed cycles: projects apply, funding is allocated based on a single snapshot, community activity spikes, and then the round ends.

This model can work, but it’s transactional by nature. Participants optimize for the next application, funders have limited ability to adapt as priorities change, and communities lose visibility after allocation decisions are made.

Streaming funding offers a different approach.

Instead of making one-time allocation decisions, communities can fund work through continuous streams that adapt over time. Support can respond to new information, evolving priorities, and demonstrated progress.

For funders and allocators, this creates more flexibility and efficiency.

For recipients, streaming funding can create faster capital flow and more predictable support, helping teams stay focused on building instead of constantly jumping from grant to grant.

Most importantly, streaming funding creates a different kind of relationship between funders and recipients: one built around ongoing mutual trust, accountability, and visible progress.

Flow State makes streaming funding easier to run

Flow State builds tools for communities to coordinate funding through continuous token streams, making allocation more flexible, transparent, and responsive over time.

One of their onchain funding allocation mechanisms is called Flow Councils. Flow Councils allow council members (i.e. the configurable voting population) to decide how a token stream is split across selected recipients. As votes change, the stream allocation changes.

Streaming funding architecture: a funding pool streams capital continuously, while allocation evolves over time depending on votes.

Streaming funding architecture: a funding pool streams capital continuously, while allocation evolves over time depending on votes.

As part of GoodBuilders Season 3, GoodDollar and Flow State worked together to turn the allocation mechanism into an end-to-end streaming funding round management platform — including a custom application builder, project profiles, milestone tracking, round communication channels, configurable voter group eligibility, dashboard vote & funding visibility, automated metrics-based voting, and streaming funding management.

The metrics-based voter configuration points to the flexibility of the allocation mechanism. Streaming funding rounds can dynamically respond not only to votes, but to quantitative signals like developer activity, social engagement, and/or on-chain usage.

The platform is designed for communities to run streaming funding rounds without custom development or manual coordination behind the scenes.

Now our goal is to spread this powerful model to other communities.

More funding, more impact

Running a round with G$ gives communities more than a payment asset.

Eligible G$-denominated rounds can receive 10% matching from GoodDollar, increasing the total support available for builders, contributors, public goods, or community initiatives.

But the value goes beyond the matching. By funding with G$, communities are not only supporting their own builders or initiatives. They are also helping strengthen the economic network they are joining — one designed to support UBI, public goods, community participation, and future ecosystem incentives.

With USDC, a round distributes capital.

With G$, a round can distribute capital while also helping grow an economy designed to support UBI, public goods, community participation, and future ecosystem incentives.

What can communities use this for?

This model can support builder grant rounds, public goods funding, hackathon follow-on funding, contributor programs, local impact initiatives, ReFi funding rounds, community-led programs, or any funding process where support should evolve as work progresses
