The Enforcement Doctrine: Securing Stability Against Tehran’s Atomic Ambitions

The ministers of foreign affairs of China, France, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union debated with the Iran nuclear negotiating team, 14 July 2015.

In my opinion, international security must be built on strict accountability, not groundless optimism. For years, I suspect Western diplomacy has operated under the false illusion that constant concessions would eventually moderate Tehran’s behavior. To secure long-term stability, I believe the global community must embrace an unyielding doctrine: no trust, no illusions, and a complete refusal to tolerate a nuclear Iran.

From my perspective, the regime operates with explicit disregard for international law. As the UK and France recently detailed to the UN Security Council, Tehran remains the only non-nuclear-weapon state to amass over 400kg of 60% highly enriched uranium, a cache that, I argue, completely lacks any valid civilian justification. This alarming escalation is paired with a total blackout of international oversight, as the IAEA formally censured the regime for blocking inspectors from verification sites for a consecutive twelve months.
