Margarida Lacerda, commonly known as Guida, was born in 1994 in Viseu, but has lived her entire life in Lisbon. Studied arts, film, and multimedia, developing a passion for painting, writing, languages, architecture, photography, and video editing.

In primary school, she was asked to read ‘A Noite de Natal’ by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen; initially, she approached it with some reluctance, however, after she began to read it, she ended up mesmerized by the world of writing.

Since then, her love for reading has grown, and at one point, her preferred literary genre was crime fiction, with prominent authors like Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle.

In her search for more books to read, she found some small romance novels her mother had at home, which sparked a new interest. She read the most famous love stories, such as William Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’, Joseph Bédier’s ‘Tristan and Iseult’ and Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’.

She had been writing short stories since childhood, but it was only in 2015, inspired by Jane Austen and the British Regency era, that she began writing a novel in a more mature and experienced style. With some hiatus along the way, she finally completed it in 2022.

In 2024, at the Lisbon Book Fair, the novel “May Ann” was published, and the book has been widely praised for its captivating story.

Currently, she is working on a fantasy work that may evolve into a saga inspired by the magic from all corners of the world.
