NMIX 7014E: Audio & Video Production for “Georgia On Your Mind”
Project Background
For NMIX 7014E, I was responsible for improving the overall production value of the Georgia On Your Mind podcast throughout the fall semester. Our team produced four in-person interview episodes featuring distinguished individuals connected to Georgia and the University of Georgia. My primary focus involved capturing high-quality video and audio while maintaining a cohesive brand experience across every episode.
One of the standout features of this season was our interview with Olympic Silver Medalist Maritza McClendon. This episode provided an opportunity to elevate both the visual identity and technical execution of the podcast.

Strategic Approach
As our team planned this season’s direction, we recognized the importance of expanding the podcast beyond audio-only platforms. By incorporating polished video production, we could better showcase the authenticity of guests and increase discoverability across digital channels such as YouTube and social media.
To support that goal, we developed a uniform production strategy that included:
• Consistent visual framing and lighting setup • Clear and well-balanced voice audio • Branded motion graphics and lower thirds • A recognizable tone and pacing in both video and audio formats
This strategy ensured a professional and cohesive viewing experience regardless of shooting location.
My Role: Production and Post-Production Execution
I led the technical production efforts for each episode, including:
• Filming interviews using my Sony a6400 camera with controlled lighting • Capturing and monitoring audio through lavalier microphones • Directing host-to-guest interaction to maintain natural pacing • Managing media organization, timeline structure, and assembly edits
Post-production took place in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition. My work included:
• Synchronizing multi-source footage and audio • Applying consistent color profiles to ensure visual continuity • Editing narrative flow to support storytelling clarity • Mixing and mastering audio for platform-friendly broadcast levels • Incorporating branded graphic elements created for the series
The Maritza McClendon episode, in particular, spotlighted the impact of combining cinematic visuals with strong personal storytelling.

Impact and Deliverables
This season marked a noticeable increase in the podcast’s multimedia presence. Key results included:
• Four complete multi-camera video episodes ready for digital distribution • Audio versions optimized for streaming platforms • Repeatable editing workflows for future student teams • Higher brand consistency that strengthens viewer recognition • Expanded promotional opportunities through video cutdowns
The work completed this semester has laid a clear foundation for how the podcast will continue to grow in quality and reach.
Reflection
This project strengthened my skills in directing on-camera interviews, managing a full production pipeline, and designing media deliverables at a professional standard. Most importantly, it demonstrated how visual storytelling can reinforce a podcast’s identity and deepen audience engagement.
By leading video and audio production for Georgia On Your Mind, I contributed to a stronger, more polished brand that is well-positioned for future storytelling across multiple platforms.
