[JustWrite] 14. Risk-free Path?

“There’s no risk-free path,” said Jerome Powell, the Chair of the Federal Reserve, yesterday. This sentence should be engraved in everyone’s mind. We often seek a perfect path to reach our goals . One that leads us straight to success without any obstacles. Speed matters, and a higher position matters, too.

But let’s take a closer look. Are these the only reasons you’re striving so hard? What’s the genuine motivation behind your effort? Money and fame? I understand. In today’s world, the rich often get richer, while the poor fall further behind.

But imagine this: you finally reach the highest position you’ve always dreamed of. What if you find yourself there alone? What if you lose your colleagues and friends because you were too focused on winning, too self-centered to share the journey? Would your coworkers, friends, or family still want to be around you?

Now turn the question around: would you want to work with someone so selfish, someone who only cares about winning the game?
