India, that is not Bharat -

A snapshot of our concurrent nation…

The phrase “India, that is Bharat, shall be a union of states” is a silent declaration that India shall also be a union of existing beliefs, goals and problems of the nation as a whole.

When the name Bharat taken from Vishnu Puran and the Mahabharat was accepted equivalent to India, given by Greeks and Persians, to landmass east of river Indus, it meant no change of identity, rather acceptance of a convenient name. It also meant that three fundamental principles will continue to form the foundation of beliefs for all coming generations. “Atithi Devo Bhavah, Ahimsa Paramo Dharmah, Jiyo Aur Jeene Do. But, in merely 76 Yrs 09 M and 12 Days all three of the foundation principles seem irrelevant and futile.

· The arrogance and ill-treatment of Goa drivers towards tourists has shifted its popularity as holiday destination to Maldives. No matter how many pictures were posted later in retaliation from Lakshadweep.

· Series of train accidents in recent years seemed life endangering threat to neighbouring countries’ tourists from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet, who preferred to enjoy train journeys. Not to forget getting a relaxed travel is not talk of the time anymore due to overcrowded wagons and insufficient trains.

· Wounds of 1984, Godhara, Nooh, Noakhali, Calcutta had not healed meanwhile celebration for Bulldozer Raaz came into practice. Gunfire on Hindus was breach of border security and failure of intelligence. Muzaffarnagar was a mistake to be dragged to court, but bulldozers-No!

· In response to series of hate speeches, religious and caste divide, sectional reservations, vengeance promotion and normalization of negligence, a social bias has encapsulated our thought process which defies the principle of live and let live.

But blaming is easier than acceptance. We as citizens of this once great nation have failed as its part.

So called 18+ and intellectual voters have been constant supporters of this conspiracy since 1984 and showcase lack of minimum understanding of this social menace. And this week the embezzlement of Ayodhya ram Temple’s donations. Religious identity was on priority in the last decade and religion itself has been the root cause of all conflicts in the last two decades. Governments are formed with massive voter turnout; we take pride in existence as the Sanatanis and then this-theft from the temple itself by the respected priests and yet no social turnout or turmoil. What has happened to the saviors and preachers?

When the basic principles are sidelined, where people find relief by killing people, breaking their houses, where caste and category decide the respect one deserves, where mountain ranges are devastated for the sake of sustainable development, when education system is compromised, ethnic unrest causes naked walks of women and pride in calling ourselves part of Mother India, bombs explosion outside the honorary parliament, zero accountability and blame game between ruling and opposition- NATION IS DOOMED!

When the promises turn into lies,

When elders stop protesting and kids come out on road

When inflation and no-job takes away bread

When crackers are criticized,

farmers are baton-charged and rapist walk free

Freebies are allowed, currency on nosedive
