Remote Island - Day 5

Today was supposed to be the last day of my trip.

But – thanks to some rough weather – my flight home got canceled.

I managed to catch a different flight that at least got me to my connecting airport, but… the final flight from there? Long gone. So, one unexpected overnight stay coming right up.

At that point, I just had to accept it.

Found myself a place to stay, figured I’d grab a good meal, and take the earliest flight out in the morning.

But then – plot twist.

I ended up sitting next to someone on the plane, then again across the aisle on the airport bus, and as fate would have it… we even booked the same hotel. Total coincidence. So, naturally, we decided to grab a drink together.

They turned out to be super interesting, and the drinks and food just kept flowing.

We said our goodbyes with a smile and a “see you again someday.”

I love these kinds of encounters when traveling.

Sometimes you meet people who are completely different from you, sometimes eerily similar. You never know. I tend to strike up conversations pretty easily, so I do need to be mindful of people’s personal space…

Still, I hope they had as much fun as I did.
