You’re Not a Failure Because You Failed Twice
Failure is not the opposite of success. It is part of it.

Failure feels heavy.
You try something. It doesn’t work. You try again. It still doesn’t work. And slowly, a thought starts to grow:
“Maybe I’m just not good enough.”
But that thought is wrong. Failing twice does not make you a failure. It makes you human.
Failure Is an Event, Not an Identity
This is where most people get it wrong. They take something that happened and turn it into who they are.
You failed a test → “I am a failure”
You made a mistake → “I always mess up”
You tried and it didn’t work → “This is not for me”
Failure is something you experience. It is not something you become. When you confuse the two, you stop trying, not because you can’t improve, but because you’ve labeled yourself.
Two Attempts Is Not Enough Data
Think about it. If something doesn’t work once, it could be timing. If it doesn’t work twice, it could be approach.
But two attempts are not enough to judge your ability.
Learning takes repetition. Skills take time. Results come after adjustment, not just effort. You don’t stop after two tries. You learn, adjust, and try again differently.
Growth Looks Like Failure at First
When you are learning something new, you are supposed to struggle. You are supposed to feel unsure. You are supposed to make mistakes. That is how growth works.
No one starts as an expert. Everyone starts as a beginner.
The difference is not talent. The difference is who keeps going.
The Real Problem Is Not Failure
The real problem is how you respond to it.
Do you:
Reflect and improve?
Or withdraw and give up?
Failure gives you feedback.
It shows you what didn’t work. It shows you where to adjust. It shows you what to improve but if you take it personally, you miss the lesson.
Stop Making It Mean Too Much
One mistake does not define your future. Two failures do not cancel your potential.
You are giving too much meaning to a small part of your journey.
Zoom out.
Look at the bigger picture. Where you are now is not where you will end up, unless you stop trying.
Everyone You Look Up To Has Failed More
People you admire did not succeed on their first or second try. They failed more times than you see. But they did not stop at failure. They used it.
They improved their process. They adjusted their mindset. They kept going.
That is what made the difference.
Learn, Don’t Label
Instead of saying: “I failed again”
Ask: “What can I do better next time?”
That question shifts your focus.
From judgment → to growth From emotion → to action
When you learn from failure, it becomes useful. When you label yourself, it becomes limiting.
Keep Going Anyway
There will be moments where you feel like stopping. Moments where you doubt yourself. Moments where it feels easier to quit than to try again.
But those moments do not decide your future.
Your decision does.
Keep going.
Not because it feels easy but because it matters. Build Resilience
Every time you try again after failing, you build resilience. You become stronger. You become more patient. You become more capable.
Failure stops feeling like an ending. It starts feeling like part of the process.
Final Thought
You are not a failure because you failed twice.
You are only a failure if you decide to stop trying.
Failure is not the opposite of success. It is part of it.
So try again.
Adjust. Learn. Improve.
And keep moving forward.
Because your story is not defined by how many times you fall but by how many times you get back up.
