Doo-Wop on Ice (THE FIFTH AND FINAL CHAPTER!) By Jenn Webster

Well, this is it-Will Derek and Cassie FINALLY have their happily ever after?

As Cassie was driving Derek home to his basement at the high school, Cassie began to speak to him, saying, “You know, Derek, I have got a confession to make with you…you see, I really did not take you out on the town for a date.” Derek was surprised, replying to her, “Oh, really?! Then if you did not plan this, Cassie, then who?” Then Cassie replied, “The principal of the school has told me that I have to keep you out of the school tonight, because tomorrow is Parent/Teacher Day at the high school. He told me that if I keep you after hours, then in the morning the principal will be waiting at the basement of the school to kick you out!”

“Well, that principal is a dirty dog!” Derek exclaimed, “And he is trying to ruin our romance, too!” Cassie replied, “Well, what in the world could I do?! After all, you have been such an embarrassment to the school, at least that’s what the principal said!” Derek then replied, “Well! So the principal thinks that I am an embarrassment, huh?! Well, it sure looks like I am going to beat him to the punch!” Derek then tells Cassie , “Now, here is what we are going to do-We stop off at the basement of the high school, pack up all of my things while you are waiting in the car, and then I shall finally get out of that basement and take you by the hand, hop aboard the car, and we’ll drive away to Atlantic City, where you can be the star of the Doo-Wop On Ice show that I am producing! Do you understand this?!” Cassie nodded, and then Derek replied once more, “Then let’s go, step on it!” Then Cassie hit the brakes, and they drove off back to Bucks County.

Cassie and Derek had reached the Bucks County high school as fast as they could; while Cassie waited by the car as both of them got out, Derek went into the high school and into his basement room to pack all of his things, including his clothes, so that he and Cassie could run, or rather, drive away together. Just then, a trio of teenage girls gathered around Derek and tied him up! One of the girls said to Derek, “DJ, your time has come! It is time for you to join us in the league of telepaths!” Then the girls gave out a wicked laugh! Derek just cannot believe it! How could those high school girls get into the basement room?

Meanwhile, Cassie saw what was happening in the basement and rushed to the high school and straight to it; however, she was not alone! Cassie was followed by the blonde woman, and then Derek’s boss! All three of them entered the basement to reach Derek! But all of them are in for a big, fat surprise-Derek’s friend Joey came into the basement room, too! And then, all of them started to complain to each other that they had all fallen on the floor!

A few days later, Derek was at his boss’s office at the Atlantic City arena; he told his boss, “Well, I am here this morning because I just want to say goodbye…maybe I am just not good for ice shows after all these years. I think that the time was right for me to…” But Derek’s boss interrupted him, saying, “But what about my Doo-Wop ice show? How am I going to find a new producer when we are this close to putting the finishing touches on the show?”

Derek then paused and then said to his boss, “I’ll make you a deal…If you get Cassie as the main star of the show, then I promise you that I shall produce the best ice show this side of Atlantic City!” “But she’s unknown,” Derek’s boss replied, “How is she going to learn all of the tricks for this show?!” “Well, it’s my deal,” Derek exclaimed, “Take it or leave it!” Derek’s boss paused for a moment, and then he told him, “Well, I do not have any choice! You shall have a great show with her in it!” Derek replied, “Thanks, boss,” and then the two shook hands.

One week later was the night of the big Doo-Wop On Ice show; Derek, dressed in his tuxedo, as well as his boss and his friend Joey, went to Cassie’s dressing room to check on her. Derek knocked on the door, and Cassie opened the door. “Why, Derek!” she exclaimed to him, and then hugged him! Cassie then said this to Derek, “Oh, Derek, I just want to say that I am so very sorry for misunderstanding you…That blonde woman that you have always told me about? Well, she told me the truth, and then she told me that you really don’t deserve her, you REALLY deserve me!” Then Cassie kissed Derek as the blonde woman appeared alongside Cassie. After a long pause, Derek began speaking to Cassie: “Well, it is about time that you have said this, because I have waited so very long enough to do something that I have always wanted to do…” Then Derek pulled a small box out of his pocket and opened it, revealing a diamond engagement ring! Derek then got down on his knee and said this to Cassie: “Cassie, you are the one true person that have always made me very happy, and I know that I have made you very happy. And now, I would very much like for you to spend the rest of my life with me! Cassie…Will you marry me?” Cassie drew tears in her eyes as she said yes, and then Derek slid the engagement ring on her mid finger on her left hand. Afterward, they kiss. Now it was (FINALLY) official.

And then, the Doo-Wop On Ice show began; the skaters, including the star of the show, Cassie, began skating as a Doo-Wop vocal group performed a song. Afterward, three other skaters began their own original skating routines, one solo with a recording of a song, two others skated to music by live Doo-Wop groups. Finally, the star of the show, Cassie, began her dazzling routine as a Doo-Wop supergroup performed a medley of classic vocal group songs.

After the grand finale, Derek went on the ice to meet up with Cassie to kiss her and to congratulate her, only to fall on the ice! Luckily, Cassie skated to Derek, picked him up, and looked at him. And then they kissed once more, both of whom knew that there was going to be a bright future ahead for both of them.
