It’s Live. KintoPDF Beta Is Now on Gumroad.

In my last post, I wrote about why I started building a PDF plugin for kintone’s North American market.

Today’s update: it’s actually out.

What changed since the last post

The pricing changed. I originally said $19/month. After looking at the market more carefully — and seeing that RepotoneU sits at $247/subdomain — I landed on $50/month after the beta period. During beta, it’s free for 30 days.

The rendering engine got a complete rewrite too. The original HTML-to-canvas approach kept breaking on dynamic cell heights. I ended up building a direct drawing engine on top of jsPDF — calculating every coordinate manually. Painful to write. But the output is clean.

What’s in the beta

Three templates: Invoice, Quote, Work Report. Field mapping through a settings panel — no code required. Logo upload, theme color, tax rate, currency symbol. Auto-save to kintone’s attachment field. Bilingual settings UI — English and Japanese.

One thing I added late: an in-browser PDF preview before saving. Seemed obvious in hindsight, but it wasn’t in the original spec.

Why beta and not a full launch

Honestly, I’d rather ship something real users can break than spend another month polishing something nobody’s tested. The core feature works — I’ve generated invoices from actual kintone records. But I want to hear from people using it in their actual workflows before I lock in the pricing and feature set.

Update (April 20, 2026): KintoPDF is now available on Lemon Squeezy! We’ve added this as a second option to provide more flexible payment methods and better license management.
