Few figures in the Old Testament are more associated with wisdom than Solomon.

His name has become almost synonymous with understanding, judgment, learning, and intellectual greatness. The Scriptures portray him as a king whose insight astonished nations and whose sayings shaped generations.

And yet, in this short but remarkable message received through James Padgett in 1915, Solomon himself makes a startling confession:

“Wisdom… is not the equal of Love in elevating a spirit in the Father’s Kingdom…”

In only a few paragraphs, the message overturns many assumptions about spiritual greatness.

Solomon explains that intellectual brilliance alone cannot elevate the soul into the Celestial Kingdom.

He also confirms one of the central teachings of the Divine Love revelation: that before Jesus’ coming and the rebestowal of the Divine Love, even the greatest spirits of antiquity could progress only within the realms of natural love.

A Reflection

One of the most beautiful aspects of this message is its humility.

The man remembered throughout history as “Solomon the Wise” does not boast of wisdom.

Instead, he points beyond it.

He acknowledges that others — simple fishermen and disciples who received more of the Father’s Divine Love — had surpassed him in spiritual elevation.

This echoes a theme that appears repeatedly throughout the Second Coming Messages from Spirit: that the soul, not the intellect, is the true measure of spiritual progress.

As Jesus explained in a later message on the soul of a child (Samuels, 1961):

“Brains and intellect count for little when the standard for admission and acceptability is a soul filled with the Divine Love of its Maker.”

In this light, Solomon’s message becomes profoundly instructive.

Wisdom is good. Learning is good. Understanding is good.

But none of these, by themselves, transform the soul into the Divine Nature.

Only the Father’s Divine Love can do that.

And this, Solomon says, became possible only after God again made the Divine Love available to all humanity — a truth Jesus realized, embodied, and taught.

Thus the “higher wisdom” is not merely intellectual greatness.

It is the wisdom to seek God’s Love above all else.

For Divine Love not only elevates the soul — it gradually awakens within the soul a deeper understanding, harmony, perception, and knowledge of Truth itself.

And perhaps this is the final paradox hidden within Solomon’s message:

that the wisest thing a soul can do… is to seek the Love that makes the soul truly wise.

Solomon’s position in the Celestial Spheres.

I am here, Solomon of the Old Testament.

Well, I was visiting the earth plane and happened to see the two last spirits visit you. I thought that I would do so also.

I know Paul and John and converse with them sometimes, but do not have as much of the Divine Love as do they. Wisdom which I was said to have had in a pre-eminent degree, is not the equal of Love in elevating a spirit in the Father’s Kingdom; and they are possessed of more of this Love than am I. Yet I have great hope that someday I will get this great soul filling Love to a degree that will enable me to live with them and the others of the followers of the Master - I mean his disciples.

I became a follower of the Master many years ago, and know that he is the only Way to the Father - and I mean by that, the Way which his teachings show is the only Way. It may seem a little surprising to you that I, said to have been such a wise and good man, am not as exalted as are the disciples. Well, while I lived and died many years before the disciples, and one would suppose that I made greater progress than had they, yet such is not the fact, because my progress prior to the coming of Jesus was purely intellectual, and after his coming it was a long time before I started on my soul’s progression.

So you must remember that the fact that a spirit is called an ancient spirit, does not mean that it is a very highly exalted spirit in the spheres - because a spirit prior to Jesus’ coming to earth could only make intellectual and soul progress in the natural love and then not higher than the sixth sphere of the spirit spheres.

But after his coming, and the rebestowal by God of Immortality and the Divine Love on mankind, the ancients had the opportunity to make the soul progression which was intended, and which would enable them to ascend to the higher Celestial Spheres.
