Development & prototype creation of our capstone project

Overview

For this project, The One Project, we were challenged with the task of not only pitching ideas for our capstone project, but choosing an idea and developing that idea into a prototype. The goal of this project was to utilized our project management and collaboration skills, while also incorporating the skills we are learning in our other courses. As a group, we decided to work on a resell website and brand development of a company called Blush Co., founded in 2023 by Elva Zhang. This project allowed us to sharpen our project management skills and combine our ideas to create something great.

The Problem

For Blush Co., there was little to no brand development or direction. The current website is inactive and their social media page, specifically Instagram, is empty. Blush Co. was in need of a thoughtful and intentional redesign and brand development.

The Solution

For this project, my team met with the founder, Elva, in order to soldify the brand aesthetic, products and style guide. Once we had and understood that information we were able to create a website prototype in Figma. You can view the prototype here.

While developing this prototype, we focused on some very important things:

• primary & secondary colors
• typography
• images that match the aesthetic
• working flow, connecting buttons & text to their respective frames
• organized navigation
• accessibility guidelines in terms of colors chosen
• usability
• encompassing the brand aesthetic based on the conversations we had with the founder

Results

In the end, I was satisfied that my group was able to communicate, problem solve and design something amazing in such a short amount of time. This project gave me the opportunity to work collaboratively and assist in project management firsthand. I hope that in the future we are able to show the true glory of Blush Co. as a brand.
