Zomby Bites Back in Brazil: Ferrari Driver Converts Pole to Victory in IARL-OCE Round 2

The second round of the Irish Aussie Racing League Oceania (IARL-OCE) Season 2 delivered drama, redemption, and a commanding performance at the iconic Interlagos Circuit.

After a tightly contested qualifying session, it was Zomby of Ferrari who emerged victorious, converting pole position into a statement win and throwing the championship fight wide open.

Qualifying set the tone for the race weekend, with Zomby putting together a blistering lap of 1:17.890 to secure pole position in rainy track conditions. The Ferrari driver narrowly edged out championship contender CONTRLLN of Williams, who lined up alongside him on the front row just 0.285 seconds behind.

Behind them, SLXSHYY delivered an impressive lap for Haas to take third, while Allan placed Sauber in fourth. Mercedes driver and reigning OCE Driver’s champion HRT Martin completed the top five on the grid, positioning himself well for a potential charge in the race.

The midfield remained incredibly tight, with xdWINTERCATx (Red Bull), nishka (Mercedes), and Abhishek (McLaren) all within striking distance.

When the lights for the race in Brazil, Zomby maintained composure at the front, keeping the Williams of CONTRLLN behind him through the opening stages. Despite consistent pressure, the Ferrari driver controlled the race pace and avoided costly mistakes across the 43-minute contest and clinched the victory in Brazil.

CONTRLLN finished 2.532 seconds behind in second place, maintaining his strong start to the season and preserving his lead in the championship standings.

The fight for the final podium position was intense, but HRT Martin produced a strong performance to bring his Mercedes home in third, earning Driver of the Day honors after climbing from fifth on the grid.

Mercedes had a productive outing as Nishka secured fourth place, adding valuable points to his championship tally.

Red Bull’s xdWINTERCATx completed the top five with a steady drive, while SLXSHYY slipped down to sixth after starting third.

Further back, Abhishek brought his McLaren home in seventh, ahead of teammate Haze, who recovered from tenth on the grid to finish eighth and also set the fastest lap of the race with a 1:09.195.

Dilby finished ninth for Red Bull, rounding out the points-paying positions.

Unfortunately for Sauber’s Allan, the race ended prematurely after a strong qualifying performance, resulting in the only DNF of the event.

Despite finishing second in Brazil, CONTRLLN remains at the top of the standings with 47 points, thanks to his strong opening round. Mercedes driver nishka sits second on 36 points, while xdWINTERCATx holds third with 34 points.

Zomby’s victory propels him up to fourth in the standings with 27 points, tying Haas driver SLXSHYY and firmly placing Ferrari back into the championship conversation.

With many rounds still to come, the fight for the title is far from settled.

Round 2 in Brazil showcased the competitive depth of the IARL-OCE grid. Zomby’s flawless drive demonstrated Ferrari’s potential, while CONTRLLN’s consistency continues to keep him at the top of the standings.
