Never Too Small to Make a Difference — My Fundraising Journey for Edhi Foundation

When I decided to collect funds for the Edhi Foundation, I thought it would be simple. I imagined people would see my message, feel inspired, and respond immediately. But what I learned was far more meaningful than just collecting money; it was a journey of persistence, creativity, and quiet leadership.

I started with a simple WhatsApp status. More than 50 people viewed it, but not a single person responded. At first, I felt discouraged. Was my message unclear? Were people just not interested?

I didn’t give up. I took a more personal approach and began messaging people directly. Most of them were acquaintances, not close friends. A few promised to donate later but never followed through. Some simply reacted with a thumbs up. It was disheartening, but I kept going.

In the end, it was the people closest to me who stepped up. Three of my family members, two of my fellows from the Amal Fellowship, and one good friend sent in their contributions. My sister even got involved; she spoke to her classmates, and they donated too. That moment reminded me that impact often starts with the people around us.

Then, I reached out to the CEO of the marketing agency where I’m currently taking a digital marketing course. To my surprise, this time, there were no hurdles. He donated without hesitation. That one act of generosity meant a lot , not just because of the amount, but because someone believed in the cause.

By the end of my campaign, I had collected 6,100 rupees. It may not be a huge amount, but for me, it represented something bigger: that with determination and heart, even one person can make a difference.

This experience taught me that fundraising isn’t just about money; it’s about communication, trust, and persistence. It’s about being willing to ask, again and again, even when you don’t get the response you hoped for. It’s about finding strength in small victories.

And most importantly, it’s about remembering that no effort is ever wasted when it comes from a place of compassion.
