New Moon in Taurus 25°Horoscope — May 16th, 2026

A new beginning rooted in the body, the voice, and the healing

We are approaching another New Moon. This time, it is a New Moon at 25° of Taurus, occurring on May 16th, 2026. The 25° is a degree associated with things that endure because they were built slowly and with care. The seeds planted at this degree do not sprout overnight. They are the kind that first establish roots before showing anything to the light. The intentions and seeds you plant now will carry the energy that only things built slowly and intentionally can carry.

Taurus is a fixed, earth sign that rules what we own, what we inhabit, and, most essentially, what we are worth. New Moons are always invitations — seeds planted in the dark — and here, in this most grounded of signs, the invitation is to begin something with real, material substance.

The most significant element of this New Moon is Mercury sitting in tight conjunction with both the Sun and Moon. Two days prior to this New Moon, we have the Sun-Mercury Cazimi in Taurus 23°, a moment when our mind is illuminated, placed at the heart of the solar fire. In Taurus, Mercury is deliberate; it wants to think things through, to speak from a place of embodied knowing rather than reactive opinion. This conjunction tells us that this New Moon is fundamentally about communication, but not the rapid-fire kind. Mercury in Taurus speaks from the body, from what has been slowly digested.

The seeds you plant now are seeds of a creative voice you have been sitting with but haven’t yet released, a conversation you have been preparing to have, a message, a manuscript, a piece of creative work that carries your true values.

What you say and what you believe about what you are worth are intimately connected at this New Moon — these are not separate conversations.

Simultaneously (and this is the tension in the chart), Mars is in tight conjunction with Chiron in Aries 28°. This is not a soft aspect; this is the place where our capacity to act is inseparable from the places we have been hurt. Mars is connected to how we assert ourselves, to our desires, and to forward motion. Chiron is the wound that cannot be fully healed but can be integrated into the place where our deepest vulnerability becomes our deepest wisdom.

The Taurus New Moon is slow, patient, and embodied, and the Mars-Chiron conjunction in Aries is raw, impatient, and wounded. The tension between these two energies is the tension between what we know we are building and the old pain that rises the moment we try to begin. You may find that as you set intentions for this New Moon, something older and more fragile surfaces. The healing of the wound is being woven into the foundation of what you are beginning. You do not need to resolve it first, but you can begin to.

Venus rules Taurus, which means Venus rules this New Moon — and at the time, she is at 27° Gemini. This is a late degree of completion and accumulated complexity. Venus in Gemini is curious, dual, and socially agile. She is drawn to what is intellectually stimulating, to variety, to the art of conversation and connection. At 27°, she is near the end of her Gemini journey, where she has explored and gathered new perspectives, maybe even more than she anticipated. There is a quality of ‘now what’ kind of energy, or a now or never feeling, a sense that the playfulness of exploration must begin to settle into something more.

It might be that you have been looking around, collecting information about what you actually want, which relationships or creative paths light you up and with Venus approaching the end of Gemini, that exploration is beginning to crystallise. The New Moon in Taurus is asking you to commit, not recklessly, but with the wisdom of what you have already gathered.

Taken together, these transits illustrate a collective energy that is quiet on the surface yet seismically active beneath.

We are planting seeds that require patience and embodiment, while the ruler of those seeds remains in mid-air, still gathering, still deciding. There is a theme of voice woven through everything. Mercury, the dispositor of Venus in Gemini, is conjunct this New Moon. With Gemini prominent through Venus (Taurus), the throat, and the word (Gemini) as the bridge between what we value and what we choose to communicate.
