My Doodles Came Alive — A Week of TOMI in AR

There’s something quietly magical about drawing a character on a Post-it note, holding up your phone, and watching it dance around your living room.

That’s what My Boogie Doodles does. It takes whatever you’ve scribbled — however imperfect, however tiny — and brings it to life in AR (augmented reality). And this past week, I spent five days doing exactly that, one color at a time, with a little character I named TOMI.

Here’s how the week unfolded.

May 24, 2026 — Creating TOMI on a Post-it

It started with a blank Post-it and a pen.

I drew a small character by hand — wobbly lines, uneven shapes, the kind of doodle you’d make while waiting for a meeting to start. I called him TOMI. Nothing fancy. Just a little guy.

Then I opened My Boogie Doodles, pointed the camera at my drawing, and TOMI stepped off the paper. He was suddenly standing in my room, moving around like he’d always been there. That moment — small as it sounds — felt genuinely surprising. It made me want to keep going.

May 26, 2026 — Meet Orange TOMI 🍊

The color series began with orange.

A tiny doodle on a Post-it, and suddenly there he was — bouncing in AR, full of energy, doing his thing in vivid orange. There’s something about that particular color that feels playful and warm at the same time. Orange TOMI felt like the right place to start.

Every time I do this, I’m reminded that drawing skill really isn’t the point. The joy comes from seeing something you made — however rough — take on a life of its own.

May 27, 2026 — Yellow TOMI popped out of my sketchbook 💛

If Orange TOMI had energy, Yellow TOMI had pure joy.

I drew him directly in my sketchbook this time — and watching him jump out of the page and start dancing felt different from the Post-it version. More theatrical, somehow. Like a proper debut.

The app’s tagline is Just Joy It, and honestly, that’s exactly what this is. There’s no overthinking involved. You draw. You point. You smile.

May 28, 2026 — Green TOMI has entered the doodle world 💚

Green felt like a breath of fresh air — literally.

Green TOMI came alive dancing out of the sketchbook, and there was something about the color that made the whole thing feel lighter. More alive. I kept the drawing small and simple, and the AR version still looked exactly like what I had in mind.

The process is three steps: draw it, watch it, bring it to life. That’s it. And yet it never gets old.

May 29, 2026 — Meet Blue TOMI 💙

The final TOMI of the week arrived in blue.

Blue TOMI came to life in augmented reality and danced right in front of me — a simple doodle transforming into a full character. After five days of this, you’d think the novelty would wear off. It doesn’t. Each one feels a little different, a little new.

Completing the color run felt satisfying in a way I didn’t expect. Orange, yellow, green, blue — five versions of the same tiny character, each with its own personality. A small collection, made by hand, living in AR.

Why I keep coming back to My Boogie Doodles

There are plenty of AR apps out there, but most of them ask you to work with content someone else created. My Boogie Doodles starts with your drawing — your lines, your shapes, your character. The AR is just the next step in making your thing feel real.

It’s also redecorating, in a strange way. Every time I use the app, my space feels a little more like mine — inhabited by characters I actually made.
