Nothing is lost, but not everything must be repeated forever

Caspar David Friedrich: Lebensstufen
Recently, as I sat in deep meditation and my consciousness expanded into vastness, an existential fear arose at the same time, as if my avatar were saying: I do not want to be left here alone. Space-consciousness then whispered to me softly: Do not be afraid. We are taking you with us. Nothing will be lost.
Perhaps this touches one of the deepest human fears: that when we leave the body, we also lose what feels intimate, vivid, and unmistakably personal. That our sensuality, our memories, our uniqueness, our lived humanity are bound to physical density. But this is the misunderstanding: what we call sensuality is actually spirit embodied, not merely matter, but information taking form.
We often confuse our felt sense of self with our felt sense of the body. We assume that identity is inseparable from our physical organism. Yet in expanded states of consciousness, in near-death experiences, or in out-of-body states, the sense of self does not disappear at all. It simply shifts. Its frequency rises. It moves several octaves upward, so to speak, because it is now experienced in a dimension of less density. Our essence remains, and so does all information.

Caspar David Freidrich: Das Eismeer
Nothing essential is lost.
Experience remains accessible. Memory does not simply vanish when the body is set aside. Individual incarnations may eventually lose the exaggerated importance we give them while embodied, just as a person looking back realizes that one particular day did not define an entire life. Yet even when identification with the current biography loosens, nothing is erased. It is one journey among many. One life among many.
Accounts of life reviews described in near-death research point again and again to this fact: nothing is truly lost, especially nothing that was emotionally lived. It is as if every movement, every encounter, every act is preserved in the cosmic internet, the field. Some descriptions even suggest that one can zoom in on the most seemingly insignificant moments, as though the universe were not only creative intelligence, but also an immense field of memory, meaning, and relation. In that sense, the universe would not be an empty mechanical void, but a living field of information, storing and generating at once. Nothing is lost. Everything remains accessible.
Earthly life is also a protection
And this brings its own challenge. If inner states materialize more immediately on subtler planes, if thought, emotion, and psychic condition take shape more directly there, then a confused, fearful, or fragmented mind may temporarily generate deeply painful realities. What is slowed down here by the inertia of matter may unfold far more quickly there. In that sense, earthly life is not merely a burden; it is also a protection. Here we can practice. Here we can experiment with expectations, desires, beliefs, projections, and with all that still sleeps in the subconscious and waits to be released.
Perhaps that is why being incarnated here is not a mistake, but a strange opportunity. This world is not only a place of suffering. It is also a laboratory of liberation, a training ground for clarity, a precious interval in which we learn how to live with consciousness before consciousness becomes even more directly expressed. Life is precious, especially in preparation for the afterlife.
Not everything must be repeated forever.
Perhaps this is not the first time you have been here. Perhaps you have moved through this density many times, taking on roles, gathering experience, forgetting and remembering. And perhaps something in you is now being called toward a deeper remembrance, not as regression, but as maturation, as a way of becoming freer within the great cycle. Nothing is lost. But not everything must be repeated forever.
So the deeper task of human existence is not to become more skillful at revolving within the karmic wheel, but to become inwardly free enough to step out of it because the journey has been completed. This life is precious. This remaining time may be an opportunity to finally step off the karmic wheel.
