🍯DAILY DEVOTIONAL REFLECTION
Saturday 30th May, 2026 Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17–21 Theme: A Ministry of Reconciliation
As we conclude our week’s reflections on God’s Gracious Gift today’s passage brings us to the very heart of God’s grace and its ultimate purpose. Yesterday, from Ephesians 2:4–10, we learned that salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ and not earned by human effort. Today’s text takes us a step further by showing us what happens after we receive that gift of salvation.
Paul begins with one of the most powerful declarations in Scripture: ”If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” (v.17). Salvation is not merely a change of religion, behavior, or church membership. It is a transformation of identity. Through Christ, God gives us a new heart, a new relationship with Him, a new purpose, and a new future.

But why does God make us new? Paul explains that God has reconciled us to Himself through Christ. Reconciliation means restoring a broken relationship. Sin had separated humanity from God, but through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, peace has been restored. The cross became God’s bridge between sinful humanity and a holy God.
Verse 21 beautifully explains how this reconciliation was accomplished: ”God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” Jesus was sinless, yet He willingly bore the penalty of our sin. He took what belonged to us so that we could receive what belongs to Him — righteousness, acceptance, and life with God. This is grace at its highest expression.
Paul then makes a remarkable statement: God has entrusted believers with the ministry of reconciliation. Having been reconciled to God, we are called to help others find reconciliation with Him.
Paul describes believers as Christ’s ambassadors. An ambassador is an official representative who speaks and acts on behalf of a king, president, or nation. An ambassador does not represent personal opinions; he represents the interests, policies, and character of the one who sent him.
Likewise, Christians represent Christ in the world. Our words, conduct, relationships, decisions, and witness should reflect the values of God’s kingdom. We are called to be agents of peace, forgiveness, truth, justice, and reconciliation in our homes, churches, workplaces, and communities.
This means that the grace we have received must become grace we extend to others. Reconciled people should be reconciling people. Those forgiven by God should be willing to forgive others. Those who have received mercy should show mercy.
As we end this week’s reflections, we see the full picture of God’s gracious gift:
- Grace was revealed in Jesus Christ.
- Grace brought salvation.
- Grace made us new creations.
- Grace reconciled us to God.
- Grace now sends us into the world as Christ’s ambassadors.
Lessons for Today:
- Salvation in Christ makes us new creations.
- Reconciliation restores our broken relationship with God.
- Jesus became sin for us so that we might receive His righteousness.
- Every believer is called to participate in the ministry of reconciliation.
- As Christ’s ambassadors, we represent Him wherever we go.
- Grace received should become grace shared.
Let us Pray🙏 Gracious Father, thank You for the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Thank You for making us new creations and reconciling us to Yourself through the cross. Help us to live faithfully as Christ’s ambassadors, reflecting Your love, grace, and truth to the world around us. May our lives draw others to the saving grace found in Jesus Christ. In His name we pray. Amen.
