You keep blaming the wrong thing.

You’re Not Burnt Out. You’re Just Tired of Your Own Life

When you’re exhausted from doing what doesn’t matter to you.

It looks like waking up is already done with the day. Not sad. Just that feeling where you’re so done with your own life.

Nothing even happened. That’s the weird part.

You just open your eyes, and it’s already heavy. Like you have to go through the same thing again. Same people. Same routine. Same you.

You’re not struggling. You’re just tired of it.

Tired of pretending it’s fine. Tired of acting like this is normal.

So you get up anyway. Do what you always do.

And that feeling? It doesn’t leave.

This Isn’t Tired. This Is Something Else

It’s not about sleep. You can knock out for hours and still wake up feeling the same.

And it’s not like you’re doing too much either. Some days are easy. Almost nothing happens. Still feels heavy.

It’s more like you’re not really in your own life anymore. You’re there, technically. You show up. You do what needs to be done.

But it doesn’t land. None of it really hits you.

Things happen, and you just go along with it, no reaction, no push, nothing pulling you in either.

You’re not overwhelmed. If anything, it’s the opposite.

You’re just… not connected to any of it.

Not what you’re doing. Not the people around you. Not even yourself most of the time.

And you keep calling it burnout because you don’t know what else to call something like this.

You Didn’t End Up Here By Accident

This didn’t just happen to you out of the blue.

You didn’t wake up one day and suddenly feel like this for no reason. It built up. Quietly. Over time.

You kept saying yes to things you didn’t really want. You kept going along with what made sense, what looked right, what people expected.

And it wasn’t even wrong at the time. That’s why it’s hard to admit now.

You chose the safe option. The logical one. The one that didn’t risk too much, didn’t shake anything up.

And you kept doing that. Again and again. Until one day you look at your life and realize… You don’t even recognize it.

It works. On paper, it works. But you don’t feel anything for it.

That’s where this feeling comes from.

Not because you’re weak. Not because you can’t handle things.

It’s because somewhere along the way, you stopped choosing what you actually wanted. Or maybe you never did.

So now you’re stuck showing up to something that doesn’t feel like yours, every single day.

And yeah, of course, that drains you.

Then Why Haven’t You Left

Because nothing is really breaking.

It’s not even out there. It’s in your head. And yeah… You feel it in your chest.

That’s it. That’s where it feels like you’ve got no energy left.

If it were worse, you’d leave. If it hurt more, if something actually collapsed, you’d have a reason. Something clear. Something you could point at and say, “yeah, that’s why.”

But this? This is just… off.

Nothing excites you anymore.

So you sit in the middle of it, telling yourself it’s fine because technically it is. You’re functioning. You’re getting through your days. Nothing’s falling apart in a way that forces you to do something about it.

And leaving means you have to make it real. Means you have to admit this isn’t working, even though it looks like it should. Means you risk blowing up something stable for something you’re not even sure will be better.

So yeah, you’re just floating.

That feeling is terrible. It’s bad. I’ve been there too many times.

At Some Point, You Have To Be Honest

At some point, you stop blaming the feeling.

Because it’s not random. It didn’t just show up for no reason. You feel like this because something about your life isn’t right. And you know exactly what it is.

You just don’t say it.

You avoid it. You push it down. You distract yourself until the day ends.

Then it comes back the next day. Same place. Same weight.

And you act surprised every time.

But you’re not confused. You’re just not doing anything about it.

And yeah, that’s harder than sitting in it.

Because once you admit it, You can’t pretend anymore.

And You’ll Probably Still Do Nothing

You’ll close this. Go back to whatever you were doing.

Maybe it hits for a minute. Maybe you sit with it a bit longer than usual.

Then it fades.

You’ll tell yourself you’ll figure it out later when things calm down, when the timing is better, when you feel more ready.

Same thing you’ve been telling yourself. And tomorrow will feel the same. Not worse. Not better. Just the same.

You’ll get used to it again. Like you always do. Because doing nothing doesn’t hurt immediately. That’s why it works.

It just slowly turns into your normal.

You don’t fix this by waiting. You just get better at living with it.

Thank you for reading, and stay classy!
