Sen. Ted Cruz flies back to Texas amid backlash over Cancun trip

While hundreds of thousands of Texans are at home without power or water and millions endure another day in the historic freeze, their senator ted Cruz hopped, a jet to Mexico took his kids to Cancun, and the internet almost immediately exploded. Pictures of the senator in the airport prompted the frenzy.

Then more emerged on the plane. Flying ted won. The caption then there’s #FledCruz #TedFled, #SenatorSnowbird, #CancunCruz. He does not like the snow and ice.

He likes the beaches much nicer, but once the criticism flooded in like water from burst, pipes back home, senator Cruz issued a statement that said “he lost heat and power too, and with school canceled for the week our girls asked to take a trip with friends wanting To be a good dad, I flew down with them last night and am flying back this afternoon.”

You’ve got two girls who have been cold for two days and haven’t had heater power and they’re. Saying: hey, look. We don’t have school. Why don’t we go let’s get out of here? I think there are a lot of parents that’d be like all right. Let me if i can do this great”
